I've replaced that screen on mine once, no big deal. Get the kit from TK or online.
Pull the fuel line off every year and run kerosene with some sea foam or carb cleaner mixed in for an hour. -
Don't sit a plastic bag in front of the floor vents after you do your laundry unless u wanna wake up to melted plastic & pink clothes.

Make ABSOLUTELY certain your not on or near dry grass before running kerosene after having run diesel or you will likely start a fire. If you want to have some fun park in a concrete lot, get everything ready then crank it up after dark and watch the fireworks show as all the ignited garbage blows out the exhaust.
I do a 1-2 hour Kerosene burn once a year right before it starts getting cold, reset the hour meter so it doesn't constantly show "maintenance required" and run it all winter. I upped my run time from 10 hours to 18 and lowered the cutoff voltage to 11.4. I have my battery monitor on my APU set at 11.8 volts that way the heater doesn't shut down before the APU fires up and the APU starting doesn't draw the voltage down enough to trip the heater shutoff.dclerici1 Thanks this. -
As o said earlier, ive got a bunk heater and a coolant heater. I run a 110 dorm room size refrigerator off my inverter 24/7. In the morning the inverter shows 12.4 or better. Truck has started fine at -23f in Saskatchewan last year. I use #1 when i can or extra antigel all winter.
Other than a/c whats the reason for using an apu? My way seems less maintenance and cheaper. Not picking a fight, really wondering -

The shop sets them for 12.2v but at that voltage the APU was starting every 2-3 hours to charge. I have played with the settings and 11.8v gets me most of the way through a 10 hour period and having it fire up only a couple hours before starting the main engine circulates some warm coolant through it and warms the batteries without a warming mat. I had to lower the cutoff on the Espar though because at the factory setting of 12.0v it would cut off before the APU would start then I'd get cold and grumpy. -
