Essential Information for New Drivers

The hardest process for me looking back and being new,was the adverse weather.Or hauling heavy meat or paper roll loads.You just have to make sure to scale those loads every time.And know when to pull over off the road if you don't feel safe.It is a very challenging career and even more so with those that have very little concern for anyone but theirself.People will cut you off and slam their brakes if they are upset at you.Just find whatever helps keep you calm and keep rolling.I have had a truck keep racing beside me on the highway.And then gets on front of me and pulls across both Lanes of highway to a dead stop.And after about 30 seconds just takes off again.There are some crazy people in the world in cars and trucks alike.

 

I have a question that hopefully someone can answer relatively quick lol. I am going for my CDL road test later today and I'm wondering if it matters what order I do the air brakes test? Can I do tug, pull, 60 second hold down? Or 60 second hold down, tug, pull?

 

I don't think it matters in which order as long as you do all the required in-cab air brake tests and properly. I would say the in-cab air brakes test is the #1 most important thing to know in getting a CDL. In fact if a driver studies them in a certain order, watch out for the tester who has you do them in a random order to really test if the driver truly knows their in-cab.
