Estes Nearly Killed Me

That clip was from my looped dashcam, 3 minute loops. Back then I didn't know how to trim and edit video. If I fix it today it rises to the top of my feed and my subs would freak out that I am reposting old content. Over here it is OK, people have the choice to click on it or not.

 

Why should I ease back if I am already going the speed limit? Also the passing lane was ending, it was mine and I owned it. Seeing double yellows up ahead any reasonable professional driver would never expect a bully princess aggressive UPS driver to try to pass in a double illegal no passing area. I was shocked to see this person make such a move.

I have heard all the arguments before,

1. He wanted and needed to be in front more due to a monstrous princess ego so therefore as the truck only going the speed limit (which everyone knows is too slow) it was my obligation to slow down.

2. Double yellow lines are only "suggestions" not to pass, but it's OK if you have a CDL because you're a pro and know when it is OK to break laws.

3. Going the exact speed limit has been known to be dangerous and deadly; this UPS driver speeding along breaking laws, while grotesque and incomprehensible, was actually saving lives. Scottie, you don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want that UPS driver to break laws, you NEED that UPS driver to break laws. We use words like "outlaw, bandit and supertrucker". We use these words as a backbone of a life spent speeding illegally around drivers who only go the speed limit.

Another "professional driver" that thinks they "own" the lane they are in.
You need to be recycled to whatever wonderboy truckdriving school you just got out of.
This attitude will eventually cause you to have a wreck that could have easily been avoided.
If you see that others are going to do something stupid, why do you drive as if they won't?

Part of being a professional driver is watching out for what the other guy does, yes I understand doing the posted speed limit while maintaining your lane of travel, but now with most trucks being governed within 1 to 2 mph of each other, I don't see the point in forcing a passing truck to fight for the pass, wether I am on a two lane road or four lane freeway if I see a truck that has that extra 1 or 2 mph on mine or even if they havemore than that, I just back off a bit and let them go and give them courtesy head light flash and all is good, its no big deal to me.

 

At first it was an Estes truck, now it's a UPS truck, so, which is it?

 

If UPS can own the lane by bullying their way through the double yellow no passing zone then I can own the legal lane and hold my lane at the legal speed limit. Do you not see the irony in your post?
I love how it is I who will need the luck lol, yes you're right I need tons of luck to survive all the bully aggressive princess truckers out there willing to kill and die just to be one truck length ahead of someone else.

 

Fight for what pass? Any reasonable professional driver would never expect UPS in this situation to try to make an illegal pass against double yellow no pass zone. I'm already going the speed limit? Why do I have to slow down even slower than the speed limit because this other driver has more and larger EGO than I do? Is that the trucker law? I can't believe you guys are all over me on this video but don't have one thing to say about the UPS driver here, one said he was just passing traffic, nothing to see here... lol

It is what I call "kill the messenger" syndrome. Never mind the egregious law breaking going on, let's jump all over the guy who is filming it. After all the law says snitches get stitches.

 

i too have often gotten "off the gas" to let someone get by, it is common sense to do so, rather than to be a numbskull and basically race them. it only takes a "few seconds" to get back up to speed, it allows the passer to get on his way, it prevents a possible crash with oncoming traffic, or at the very least, it doesn't back up traffic behind you.

some people (maybe someone here on this site) seem to think that they are God's gift to the trucking world. sooner or later, God gets pissed off.

i been out here for a mere 35 years now so i ain't highly experienced as maybe the camera truck guy is, but I AM EXPERIENCED in common sense and courtesy, as i gather from your posting, thank you.!

 

first of all, on average, UPS drivers are the most courteous drivers out there. have you ever given thought that maybe that was a temp driver? that happens to and as a result, they don't alway drive in the same manner as a full time UPS driver.
