I never drink within ten hours of driving. Didn't think that made me a unicorn....

I go 30-40 days between six-packs. I do not touch anything alcoholic while I'm living in the truck, not even during 34-hour breaks.driverdriver and Lepton1 Thank this.

Heck, my personal rule is no drinking 24 hours before driving. Not an issue for me as I tend to only drink doing my summer vacation, and then not more then a few drinks.
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Take a longer summer vacation...

I'll have a beer no closer than 12 hours from driving. But let me tell ya, once on a 34 there was a bar by the truck stop... I had a few too many. I had to drive about 14 hours later(I guess in retrospect I didn't have to drive, I still had 2 days to go 600 miles). I made it about 50 miles down the road to the next place to park. Not because I was intoxicated, but because I just felt off. I couldn't concentrate like I needed to and I was no better off than if I had gone right back to the seat from the bar. It's just not worth it. When I was too young to drink, I could put down a 30 pack and be up at 0500 to work in the hot ### sun ### day before putting down another 30 pack. Nowadays, like 2 beers and I'll have a wicked hangover. Not worth it at all.
Lepton1 Thanks this.
