From Ga and they have the toot the horn thing. I forgot to toot my horn on the last back.

Got out of the truck, looked, was good and strutted off. Didn't do any strutting after the tester got finished with me.

Ya this was the DPS state tester 4 Tx. There was a lot of other peeps there from some of the Megas and they seemed 2 be doing pre trip and more backing. So I’m not sure. I wasn’t concerned at all. Was trivial anyways since I had been otr 6 years already alone plus everything in between. Only reason I gave mine up during the period is I was pissed my dad sold the company instead of working a deal with me 2 take over and buy him out. Hindsight though

The federal test requires a full pre-trip of the whole truck (93 items I think), straight line, offset, and either parallel or 90 degree dock, in cab, static, tug, and a road test that has a mix of city/highway driving. Any item failed in the brake section fails the test. There are some other automatic fails (driving too fast, reckless, etc.) but unless you use up too many "points" as mentioned above you won't fail on maneuvers. You'll get it the next time!

Best advice I can give you is stop take a deep breath and don't hurry. I'm a pa driver to. I failed my first time taking the test. I stalled truck at a red light on a up hill grade back in 1998. It happens. I had forgot that my splitter was still in high range. So I tried to go when light turned green in 5th gear.

Just that one incident is enough to fail a test?

My test occurred in 1998. And I was brand new. And yes I failed. Had two come back in two weeks for that portion again. I bet you have never stalled a truck.

Relax buddy we've all been there i remember my first driving test on the road my whole leg was shaking, although i still passed thank goodness, try not to let your fears overcome your ability to drive easy said than done you say, before your test do things that will help you keep calm take some deep breaths before you get in the truck even tell your tester that your nervous i know i did and they may have some sympathy for you. Whats happening is your fear is preventing you from performing what you would normally do quite well, you must somehow defeat your fears.

What really sucks is when you stall at the top of a high traffic off-ramp and the starter won't engage.
