4 truck pile up east of barstow, Ca last night, about 7 pm.
Dust storm, low visibility. Road closed for several hours.

Anybody have a link on more details?

I missed it by about 30 minutes.

Only info I found was on CHP site, accident at 7pm, closed until 2am.

    I'm a bad investigative reporter.

The winds were blowing 40-50 mph from the west, so the clouds if dust were travelling with us going east. I knew there was going to be a problem.

I can imagine a cheesy news report on that one -

"Traffic went APE when a truck lost a load of BANANAS on the freeway at the SPLIT causing a morning traffic ZOO . . . Back to you in the studio Jim."

From everything I keep seeing... I think I'll try to stay away from FedEx... They appear to have the absolute worst luck out here...I don't need to be involved in any accidents..

I don't think is has as much to do with luck as it does with FedEx pushing their guys to work 14 hours a day....every day. When I worked there, almost everyone burned their 70 in 5 days.
I'm not saying that has anything to do with this accident, but I can promise you it contributes to others.

Ups us not nearly as bad as FedEx...ups has there share of bad drivers but FedEx tops the cake and literally runs with the prize of most reckless carrier out here...FedEx has shown profit takes precedence over safety..

I agree, i don't think its luck. Roehl has it's safe seven and the first two are slow down and stay back, im sure other companies have similar safety things. You can say whatever you want about those two and or having a truck governed at a slower speed but the scientific math don't lie. The slower you are going the sooner you can stop and also the more time you have to react. The further back you are again allows you to get slowed/stopped sooner and also allows time for reaction to things that happen in front of you out of your control.

Not sure whos out there pushing those fedex guys to run so hard, but it seems that I see them passing me constantly. I think their environment, whatever it is, makes them prone to accidents and problems on the road. Not a big deal if it's their own property that gets messed up but when their actions endanger other drivers or vehicle occupants it's not a good program. Just my opinion.
