thanks MadeinMX ,you have clarified a lot of things for us .i appreciate that .i am still in the training phase and am loving it .though i have to put up with the low hours for now cuz am not in a hub ..but i see a future here ,and a place i probably will retire from .so far every fedex driver or dock worker i interacted with have been very helpful and welcoming to the company .next week i will be sent to hub for another three weeks of driving training i believe .and i can`t wait to get back behind the wheel .i already finished the computer courses and videos and dock /forklift training ..so i am right on schedule .i have been riding with some city drivers and they have been awesome and very knowledgeable .
If you have driven before you will love it, easy training for experienced drivers, getting used to company policies and safety issues. Those new in the trucking industry find it challenging, but if they are focused and opened to learning, this one-on-one training is great. Good luck and enjoy it.
Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread. I applied to be a fedex driver apprentice, partly because of this thread.
best of luck .now the process to call you for an interview and background check may take a while ..but it is worth it ...i wish i knew abt this long time ago .i am in Columbus,Ohio now just finishing up with the orientation week and am loving it ..everything from staff members ,the hotel they get us ,food ,benefits ,pay EVERYTHING is just great.you gotta be open to learn and listen and you will do just fine .good luck.
i wrote a reply it got lost .however ,yes i still like it they pay us well .as a part time city driver on the extra board ,i cover for people that are off or a medical leave .i go wherever they send me ,work the dock and also cover the road .i still like it .everyone is friendly and helpful.i learned a lot too .sometimes i only work 2 hours or 3 but only when freight is slow .that is at least in my center as it is small .if nothing happens in my favor by the time my year is up i will move to a bigger center for a road position .
Customer Critical is o/o job at fedex with your own van, straight truck, or tractor trailer. Truck has to be no more than 10 years old. Basically what they do, they swap loads/trailers at fedex based properties.
