Stop passing up other jobs. Take a good one that comes along, but don't stop trying to get where you want. This will allow you to have a decent income while you wait for their long hiring process to be completed.
You never know... you just might stumble into a great position that you don't want to leave.snowlauncher, jamespmack, The Crossword Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
mostly city p&d jobs, but id much rather have a road position. Thing is I have two weeks of comp time,48 hours vacay,40 hours sick time, and 20 hours personal time to use at current job .jamespmack Thanks this.

Making a joke - well not really. I've yet to find a valid number to their safety department. Ever.jamespmack, Flat Earth Trucker, Magoo1968 and 3 others Thank this.

FedEx Freight linehaul is alot of dockwork. When I was there, bottom men were driving 40 minutes to the nearest break, working the dock 8 hours, and then driving 40 minutes back to the home 20.
Even higher seniority runs were working the dock.
If you don't mind the dock its not so bad. If you like driving tho, I'd look elsewhere. I've heard that XPO runs their linehaul similar.snowlauncher Thanks this. -
I kind of figured that. Dockwork as a road driver in my area is paying 32 an hour. Its good incentive for sure!
-
32 an hour and be home would be "why not".
Doylee4693 Thanks this. -
Depends on terminal area. Our shortest run is 240 miles round trip and even if you only worked the dock for 2 hours you would still make about 80k, most guys stay do 3-4 hours on that run
-
Way I see it.
-
I used to think that way…until I got on a run with paid delay time instead of dock work.
