Yay! I’ve been doing that for years! I drop my glove instead tho! :) I hate docks that have no lines: even after 15 years of driving!

    WesternPlains and TravR1 Thank this.

When I started about 15 years ago companies that I delivered or picked up at were still using the old style of floating docks. Those docks would actually move around on you. You would line up and back perfectly straight and at the last second the dock would move left or right up to 5 feet at a time. Made backing almost impossible. Now the new docks just stand there. It is so much easier for you newbies then it was back in the day.

Seriously, I had all kinds of problems. I got some of the old match box race track. Orange plastic. I woul lay that out as my backing lines. Other folks put a flash light on the dock to use as a marker. Don't give up. Year 5 you will start to get the hang of it. And then you will tear a door off.

Oh crap u can get banned for taking too long to back in correctly at a shipper? Talk about pressure. Every time you pull up and try again, the stopwatch is ticking..

    TravR1 and WesternPlains Thank this.

I got 924 CDL test, backing points by a shipper once. :)
I have one of those air hoses that hooks to the gladhand. Could try to use that for a line?

    Trucker61016 and TravR1 Thank this.

There is a shipper in Three Forks. MT and I am sure others have it too, that has lasers that lite the backups. There should be way to buy a cheap laser to use. Maybe one of those lights they use in the building trades?

Off topic but yesterday, I was driving through a small town in South Dakota and there was a bank with a sign out front. The sign read...

"Irony is having someone hand you a note that says, "Your Stupid.""

My sister, a school teacher, did not get it.

Everyone does it I noticed once I learned it. You start perpendicular to the hole you want to back in (9 o clock) then roll, turn to 12 o clock, then back to 9 o clock again. Gives You a set up with your trailer pointed towards the hole you want in.
