The problem is not that the coffee was hot. It's that the person had too little personal responsibility to successfully consume it.

And ambulance chasing lawyers in this country are standing at the ready to enrich themselves using stupid humans with no personal responsibility as tools.

A fatality accident is not the same as trying to drive and drink coffee from a flimsy fast food cup. I don't blame McDonald's, I blame lawyers and people looking for a handout.

I've heard the U.S. system described as regulation by litigation. Compared to Europe, for example, business faces relatively light regulation for health, consumer protection, environment, etc. But just about anyone can bring suit for just about anything. So go ahead and do what you want, but know that you could end up in front of a jury one day, so maybe you should bear that in mind as you decide how to operate. I don't think it's a very fair or rational system, but it's what we have.

I mispoke, no grafts, but rather 3rd degree burns all over her genitalia, groin and thighs, 3rd degree takes 2 seconds at 185 degrees, They routinely sent out coffee at almost boiling, 210 degrees.
Coffee recommended serving temp is 120-140 degrees

Was passenger and parked, go read the actual details of the case

There ARE ambulance chasers, they are an issue, but not every large settlement is frivolous, you must actually read the details of each case yourself before you can rely on a media narrative about it.

Whats interesting is that the mcdonalds coffee thing is from 1994, 30 years ago and some of you STILL have your preconcieved opinions unchecked by the facts surrounding the case. You made up your minds years ago, so clearly a media narrative untainted with facts is not a new phenomena

As far as they knew, they didn’t have a truck in area for a year.

Kinda reminds me once of being called up around Marshal, TX, being asked where i was, Told them about 10 mile from shipper.
They said the qualcomm pinged me in alaska.
Told them i wanted a raise, i’d made it from Dallas to Alaska in less than 4 hours since unloading there in Dallas.

Raise? You should get a speeding and reckless driving violation for that.

You have a very good point. I like to think I don't believe the media for anything, EITHER side, or get my info or opinions from them, but we all do. I said in another thread recently that big media, big tech and lawyers are to blame for most of the ills in this country and I stand by it.

The lady could've had a legitimate case, as you said I've never really researched it, but one's like that lead more and more people (and certainly ambulance chasing lawyers) to believe that anyone with money like McDonald's or any big company owes them some of it.

It's not about good or bad drivers, it's about a broken and corrupt justice system that
    is out of touch.
And the government gives CDL's to so many unqualified people at the same time.
