Fire stick 2, cobra Ltd 29

    Just bought cobra Ltd and Firestik, mounted to tool box but get antenna red light when mic pressed. Tried grounding, nothing changes, I unhooked antenna from mount and held in my hand and light goes away. What gives? Calibrated according to instructions.

    Do you have decent SWR readings? The SWR meter on the 29 isn’t the best, but it should work well enough. Your red antenna light is likely because your antenna is either too short or too long. My 29 with a Wilson 2000 antenna showed a red light until I properly tuned it by shortening the whip just a little at a time.

    As Dan said, your SWR is probably too high. Look in your radio manual for instructions on tuning. Hopefully you have the adjustable tip Firesticks as it is easier. If you have the kind that must be trimmed just take it slow 1/4 in at a time or less when you get close to optimal SWR.
