These two say you are as sober as mother Teresa.
Then you write this little hum bug
So which is it? A doctor is going to faslify legal paperwork and say you have an alcohol problem? When you say you don't.
Its not adding up.

I've never heard of a company forcing you to do your physical at their command - what company was this?
New Year's Day is a holiday, so did you go to an emergency room for this physical? -
Well heck, since everyone else is guessing, I'll take my shot at it. It appears to me that you might (have been?) be a functioning alcoholic. You can hide it for quite a few years, but age starts to catch up with you. I am taking your word that you were somewhat/completely sober that morning, and what you were experiencing was withdrawal....the D.T.'s. I expect the Doc looked at your overall condition, including your shakes, and formed an opinion that your present condition was a result of long term continuous alcohol overindulgence.....thus the abuse diagnosis.
Right now you are looking/needing a job. But you first need to make sure that you take care of your core problem.....the alcohol. If not, you will be right back here soon wanting to know if Carolina Cargo is a decent company.bottomdumpin and White_Knuckle_Newbie Thank this. -
You're only option at this point is to see a SAP and follow the fmcsas return to duty protocol.
You should really consider attending an AA meeting in your area. A lot of people dismiss the effectiveness of the program, but I can personally attest that AA saved my life. The first step is to admit to yourself that you have a problem. And I'd say losing your job due to excessive drinking is definatly a problem. And drinking so much that you have noticeable tremors the next day is way past the threshold of excessive drinking. I'm also gonna go out on a limb and guess that this is not the first time that you've drank to excess when you know you have to work the next morning. You may think that you hide it well, but trust me, your co-workers notice. You can't pass the blame for your getting fired to others either. It's not your companies fault for giving you a "surprise" physical and it's not the doctors fault for noticing blatant signs of alcoholism. There is a solution and there is hope. PM if you need help finding a meeting in your area.G13Tomcat, bottomdumpin, dngrous_dime and 3 others Thank this. -
