I'll use them in all other previously mentioned scenarios, and also when getting out on the interstat into 75 mph traffic, until I'm travelling over 45 mph.

People don't pay much attention these days, 45-70mph to under my DOT bar can happen quickly.

some states require you use your hazards going below a specified speed, which I'll comply, other than that, when I back up I'll use them or when broke down, driving in a parking lot with them on is just unintelligent, drivers will have no idea when you are going to back, can't tell you how many times I was in a truck stop, this idiot driving with his hazards on, anther truck behind him, then the idiot wants to back but can't, and gets made at the driver behind him, Why doe's he have his hazards on? because the school he graduated from 6 months ago said this is the safe thing to do

I used my flasher if I am going slow up a hill.. Usually when I drop to 80km/hr in 100km/hr zone because if the weight I haul a 80km/hr once I hit that mark then I start dropping speed quick.. If there is another slow truck behind me then I don't feel the need to use them as there is someone slow behind me..

When traffic is slowing down sometimes I use them, sometimes I don't.. This is a situation where I do not do the same thing every time.. If I do use them I shut them off once I get 1 truck or 2-3 car behinds me..

I use them when backing up even though most people just ignore them anyhow (cars and truckers alike)... It's just so if something happens I can say "didn't you see my flashers on".. I do wish my company would put reverse likes on the trailers..

Which brings me to another question.. No point starting a new thread.. Why don't they make reverse lights mandatory on trailers??? This has been something that always boggles my mind..

I've got amber turn/strobes on the trailer, different flash pattern than the 4-ways so it gets the point across better. I use them quite a bit in different situations, judgment call on when (always on with OW load).

Something to think about in low-vis situations- I got in a dust storm last year that was bad enough the EAS came over the cell, message said to pull off and "turn off 4-ways & parking lights"- drivers were drilling trucks pulled over on the shoulder thinking they were following something that was moving.

Going slower then all other traffic,
    Backing up(with horn blasts),
Parked in odd spots when off loading and loading on the side of roads,
    Broken down.

I am not aware of this law, could you point me to it?

I do know driving with 4-ways can get you a ticket in California and Florida unless you are approaching a hazard or are stopped.

New York has it posted at the bottom of most hills you must use them below 40. I usually put them on around 45 which is the minimum speed on most interstate highways. Whether I just got on and I'm not up to speed or slow pulling a hill.

I just brought a 12'W x 15'6"H x 110'L @ 170,000+ load from San Diego out I-15 into NV, as I'm sure you can imagine there are a couple of (sarcasm) hills that I was significantly below the speed limit on..,I used my four-way-flashers on every one of them. I of course also have dual strobes operating on the rear of the booster. I had countless CHP units pass me in said operating conditions and not one of them pulled me over or indicated anything, in fact most looked & waved at me as they went past me
