Update: I was able to move the fifth wheel stopper 10 inches. I could not afford redoing the ramps. They wanted about $2k. This was not my company’s mechanics but a decent shop in Texas during my hometime. I will upload picture later today when I get to my truck.

I am hoping that this will be enough to transfer weight to my steers. I will also make sure the pusher lift axle has under 50 psi air in it as well.

Cut that frame off right behind the mudflaps. Put a radius on the end of the frame rails and be done.
As long as you keep the rollers greased up,you'll still be able to get under it.Big Road Skateboard, Feedman, Razororange and 5 others Thank this. -
I haven't read every post, just spelunked a little to pick up a little knowledge so when someone asks me for a snap binder I don't hand them this:
While I don't know flatbed or oversize, I am a pretty solid investor. One of the major hurdles every investor faces is dealing with sunk costs. A person will invest time, effort, and capital in a project and use that investment to justify allocating further resources even when it is clear that further resources won't result in a positive return. Even if they do end up "winning", it's a Pyrrhic Victory.
It appears you have the wrong truck, the wrong trailer, and not enough knowledge. You can upgrade the truck, but you don't quite have the money and don't really know what you need which means it's likely you will end up with a new truck that still won't be appropriate but you'll have to 'make it work' to pay the note. Same thing with the trailer. Even if you managed to get the proper truck with the proper trailer, you're still going to struggle to get appropriate freight that pays properly. It's possible that you can tough it out and grind your way to success. Or you eat the loss - sell truck and trailer and go be a company driver with SPD or any other heavy haul carrier that the various members in this thread recommend. Learn on their equipment, using their support systems until you have both a solid knowledge and fiance base to work from. Then try again. There's no shame in beating a tactical retreat with hopes of creating a strategic victory.Big Road Skateboard, AFC, Albertaflatbed and 2 others Thank this. -
Will do when I have my finances in better shape. Looks much better than where I had it. Will see how much of a transfer of weight this does.cke, IH Truck Guy and Oxbow Thank this.

Thanks for the advice. I have the right truck now and the trailer is perfect for OTR and Load boards for me. If I was a regional or local specialized then it would be horrible and yes my trailer has both pros and cons. I can’t do any retreats period I don’t have that type of flexibility financially nor instinctively. I don’t mind what type of victory it ends up being as long as it isn’t a defeat.Oxbow Thanks this.

I have the kitten in the truck and we picked up our first load Saturday. He sleeps when I’m driving and we even went through a Blue Beacon truck wash. I have him leash and harnessed trained as well. No smell from his litter by using one of the mods techniques. Pictures attached.
