Get an auto and kick that dinosoars to the curb!

LOL, that's what I tell my trainee. Mess your own truck up, don't kill mine. I tell them how to do it but practice someplace else.Steel Dragon Thanks this.

I guess you don't drive in the northeast. If I had to double clutch the cross Bronx and I95 everyday, I'd have a knee replacement by now.McUzi, Dan.S, Woodchuck88 and 3 others Thank this.

I’m only 22 and double clutched until my boss gave me a stern 45 minute talking to about wearing out his clutch and how I’m gonna burn out me knee and back by 25 by doing that ****. I’m positive there are owner/ops on here who never touch the clutch and have tranny’s that out last any mega companies auto tranny’s by many miles and years. If you are trained by a true professional driver, one of the most important things he will teach you is how to shift. You will learn quickly the only times you need the clutch is stopping and starting.Dan.S, Bob Dobalina, 7-UP and 1 other person Thank this.

BS on the whole post.Samuelh, MartinFromBC, Dan.S and 4 others Thank this.

Next time my mechanic has one open on the floor I’ll ask him - but I agree.
If I can shift it without any clashing or resistance felt, I don’t see the need to involve everything in between my left hip and the flywheel. -
My company does not want us floating gears. The reason, they said, was you are pulling the gears out while they are turning, which over time wears away at the tips.
-
Which is true - but if I feel not the slightest resistance when easing out and in to gears, then I maintain my original statement.Dan.S Thanks this.
-
I maintain my belief because I know of hundreds of transmissions that have gone a million miles or more without ever being touched and had the gears floated.
MartinFromBC, Dan.S, Canadianhauler21 and 3 others Thank this.
