If you're ever in a bind you can try that camp 30 at exit 2. You can usually wedge in there somewhere. I've done it a few times lol

I should have used that parking area at 110 because I've never seen it full. I got to the turnoff that said "truck parking" and I was so torn as to whether or not to take it because I've gotten into some bad places and I'm a bit gun shy about going where I am not familiar. It's especially concerning for me at night.
I also thought I passed that parking area earlier. -
Thought I was gonna be smart here and park in the dirt lot across the road...almost got bit by a rattlesnake when I jumped through the ditch!
-
Ouch! That's another concern of mine. I'd rather find a spot that I don't need to get out of the truck to check.

Just down from that flying j,i believe its a citco has truck parking,if ya like hookers and druggies petaling dope and snatch all day and night, they dont even run from the law.i know,i called em 3 times

It's well lit and the Cumby locals sometimes take a spin on that connecting road to jump onto the eastbound frontage road. I've never had issues.
I get great Tmobile 4g service there to boot. -
Wasn't worried about that. Late night, unfamiliar territory, good recipe for getting into somewhere a tractor/trailer shouldn't go. As I said, I thought I passed that exact parking area earlier in the evening. Thought it was closer to Dallas/Ft. Worth. Oh well, have to remember that one for next time if I need. Would have parked at the scale near Mt Vernon, but it was closed up good.
Just hate the lack of proper rest areas on a highway that sees the kind of truck traffic the 30 sees. I think I passed two defunct rest areas that night that look nothing like they probably were long ago.
Really improves the impression the state wants to project. -
They use the westbound scale more than the eastbound so those gates are usually open.
The exit going eastbound for the truck parking area is a bit far back, but as long as you stay on the frontage road you'll be ok.
30 definitely needs more parking. Wish they'd build a pair of the new style Texas rest areas with air conditioning and ample truck parking. -
They definitely need more of the big rest areas like the one south of Salado TX. Nice size and free wifi but you need login info. That's where I found out my tire was shot.
Is it just me, or did we hijack this thread?!?

It's ok, I'm authorizing this threadjack.
