New York trucking co. owner sentenced to prison for lying to FMCSA about safety violations
Meanwhile, putting everyone on the nation's roads and highways at risk by allowing those who cannot read, write, or speak English on those roads is not a problem.
FMCSA hypocrisy

the part I’m trying to clarify is that the FMCSA as far as I know under oath has never lied when it comes to that question.
remember Biden lied to peoples faces but said something else when under oath to investigators. Same with Hillary and other politicians as well.
the difference is he lied and signed paperwork saying it’s the truth.Last edited: Mar 23, 2025

Are you seriously pretending that you cant drive a semi safely without speaking english?
If thats the case, how do the other 57 million drivers in the world function?, many of whom will never hear, much less speak the english language.
Yes, i get it, waaaaa waaaa i dun like them thar ferners stealin ma jerbs, they talk funny and that aint right, cause i dun like it.mjd4277, bryan21384, Flat Earth Trucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
Stop at loves and I see these drivers walk in yell at the clerks in their own language or shoving their phones with the translator app in the clerk’s face, or I’m at a shipper/receiver where they have signs up directing drivers not to wear flip flops, to wear safety vests, must park in designated areas before checking in, etc and almost all of the drivers are doing the opposite. And most of these clowns looking or smelling like they crawled out of a dumpster, wearing pajamas, flipflops, sarongs etc.
Many of them just throwing garbage out of the windows in the lot. At a recent visit to the Walmart in Sidney NE the designated truck area was almost empty. Instead they were all parked in the middle row clearly signed “NO TRUCKS IN THIS ROW”. Garbage was piled around the trash cans and not in it. I go park in the designated area and walk in seeing others look at me like “wtf is it with you truckers?”. Talked to one of the employees and they told me they were considering bans on trucks in there because of the trash and drivers not obeying the signs.
another location in Lexington NE, I stop in there and the stench from human waste in the truck area is so bad i have to hold my breath.
I could go on & on. True there’s always been slobs in this industry, but now it’s to the point that I no longer feel pride in being I driver when I see the increasingly slobbish behavior.
Unfortunately the ATA and FMSCA and various states still insist on lowering cdl standards to the point where anything with a pulse can get behind the wheel of a semi, just using the bs “driver shortage” excuse.drvrtech77, TheLoadOut, mjd4277 and 3 others Thank this. -
Besides if we had to make road signs in EVERY language they would be as tall as the Empire State Building.
if I went to drive in another country and all their signs were in something other than English I doubt if they would have much sympathy for me.Arctic_fox, Oxbow, FearTheCorn and 8 others Thank this. -
There's way more times that being fluent matters as opposed to road signs and traffic lights.
What about when emergency conditions arise and changeable signs are displaying important information to advise?
What about when they need to interact with other motorists and/or officials about various common issues that occur on the road?
What about at job sites or other safety sensitive environments where instant communication is imperative for the general safety of others on site?
What about simple communication/signs at a Shipper or Receiver about details concerning the pick/drop procedure at the facility?
Anyone advocating not being fluent in English while holding a CDL has an agenda and I'd be very leery of such people.Anonymousproxy, drvrtech77, TheLoadOut and 2 others Thank this.
