Complete waste of time
If anyone hasn't learned by now.... they don't give a crap what you think.... The public inquiry is simply for show...TruckRunner, WildTiger1990, Opus and 5 others Thank this. -
I see it shore is generating a whole bunch of interest. It may not do any good, but is it really easier to whine and cry about it on sites like this, than to let fmsca know how you feel about it?? Just asking, it doesn't affect me.

But Black Smoke Matters said we’re supposed to protest government overreach and excessive regulations. I’m confused.

The FMCSA has no power in this, not one bit. I wish people would learn that they regulate just the carriers and that's it, if they go after the carriers, then the carriers will make sure there are more desperate drivers needing to be the meat in the seat and won't complain.
-
If anything, the FMCSA would just allow drivers to go off duty at shippers and receivers so they could work even more hours.
If the wheels ain't turning, you ain't earning!
Yuck. -
Here a solution, driver have to log On-Duty at shipper and receivers. No sleeper time or Off-Duty. We stop people from giving their time away for free. Then they try to make up for that by driving more. People can still give time away for free if they want but now they will pay the price at end of week when they run out of hours. People can charge detention or better rater per miles to cover the waiting time. We stop companies giving drivers time away for free by that simple change. We can have paperwork stamped with In and Out times. So drivers can still park over night to sleep. So all times In and Out will be On-Duty. No other option not sleeper or off duty. You can still sleep if you want you just can't cheat the H.O.S with it or save time for later to benefit yourself or the company.
