He’s one of those “leave the landing gear 2 inches off the ground before pulling out from under the trailer” idiots. Just leave it there and he’ll never have to touch that handle again.

-OR- the guy who wouldn't crawl in to crank the legs and dragged it out of the line one the dirt.
Had a port driver do just that while standing there with 6 lawyers and an accident recon person...the empty can reveberates a sound that makes everyone look!Trucker61016, blairandgretchen, broke down plumber and 1 other person Thank this. -
Never hauled intermodal have you? Chassis landing gear is frequently bent and some have never been or greased/serviced since the chassis was built in 1979, yeah, it probably took all the drivers might/energy to crank that gear that much. I've had chassis where the gear was stripped, you'd get a few cranks in low, then a few cranks in high, then a few in low, and in between it's slip a tooth and you're grabbing for air to keep from falling over.Trucker61016, Flat Earth Trucker, Old_n_gray and 4 others Thank this.

That did change some when the steamship lines stopped providing chassis. Once I convinced our owner to stop leasing refurbs an stick with new long term leases [had close to 700 at one point] we saw little landing gear problems and our roving maintenance vendor did grease them correctly!Trucker61016, broke down plumber and Atlanta trucker Thank this.
