from doing a search, not just here but in general it seems like im the only idiot this has happened to. I see alot of forgetting to uncouple the hoses, but never this.
I always been afraid of this happening, and after 7 or so years as a truck driver it finally happened to me today. As much as i am embarrassed by this im also kind of worried what could happen if my company finds out. I mean there was no damage, it happened in the lot, and when i took off it actually never completely fell on the ground because the frame of the tractor stopped it, i quickly got out and to try and save some dignity (kind of like when you slip in public and just get right back up and act like it never happened) went to work on the crank to get it back up, it wasent easy but i got it lifted enough to be able to pull out the tractor.
The landing gears were slightly bent but i think that was more because of the angle i lifted them back up, but after i drove away the trailer looked normal.
My question is, is this something that a company would consider to be a accident? like something im supposed to go and tell my supervisors about right away?
forgetting to lowering landing gear...

I’ve forgotten to raise them, luckily it was on gravel and I only moved a foot or so when I recognized my mistake.

Start a system, lower gear first, then airlines, if someone distracts or if your mind wanders and you go to leave you just pull against the 5th wheel.
Hooking after checking pin then raise legs, then if you get side tracked, you’ll know when you release trailer brakes and air blows out line.LtlAnonymous, gentleroger, truckdriver31 and 3 others Thank this. -
