NO,Thats NOT the way to handle it.. bribes work short term..But the problem will only get worse with that forklift driver..

You Bribe him with a $20..Hes certainly not going to work more effiviently with others..he'll Expect a Bribe from them too....

    ##### that real fast.......If I still hauled a Van trailer and some lazy dock personnel Doesnt Get on it in a Timely Fashion...Im Leaving and will Return At my earliest convenience (Which could be Days/Weeks) If you get my Drift........

That'll Change Their attitude Real quick to unload you

Try it if you dont believe me.......They Sure as Heck arent going to call your Bluff and tell you.. "Oh,Ok Leave then"...Because that right there will cost that forktruck operator his/her job real fast

Honestly? Just be civil with them. There are some you can't do anything about, that much is true. But, look at it from their perspective... they're dealing with truck drivers all day, and, let's face it - there's a fair number who are quick to show their #####. It's like us with cops... get one that acts that way towards you, and that's the one you're gonna remember. And, working in a shop, it happens to me, too... I remember the drivers first who either act like #####, or else have "problem child" trucks. And that's how it's going to be for them.

I worked forklift plenty. Dont think they give 2 ##### if you leave. Hey boss that truck just left before i could get to him, said i wasnt fast enough. Oh really well its our dock if he wants to get paid he will have to wait. Call his dispatcher and tell them he took off with our freight and if it is not back in 2 hours we will consider it stolen. Yes i have seen it happen

The way I always dealt with them is id contact dispatch then climb in the sleeper. They wont unload you til they get ready no matter what you do. If they let you sit too long, then dispatch will just have to reschedule your next assignment based on the hours you have left. That's one of the pitfalls of trucking. If the trucking company choses not to do anything about it, what are you going to do? The dockworker 9 times out of 10 knows which carrier will do something and which wont so you can huff and puff all you want. With owner ops, its a different story and they are their own boss. You do too much huffing and puffing as a company driver, youll be hunting a job so you just have to decide which issue is the most important. The way I see it is Let the company deal with it the way they want to, I have fulfilled my commitment as soon as I hit the dock.

No, You are reading this wrong, If I come to your place to load/unload,...And You waste my Time? Not only are YOU notified of the arrangement, But your Boss will be Notified Prior to Me Leaving....

That way you Wont have to Tell your Boss "Hey,The Truck just left"

I'll give you ample time to unload me...But When you start Wasting time due to Laziness......Then I Get Involved,. And Yes, That Product Will Get Re-Consigned to Another Warehouse If I Choose to Go that route..And Billed to Your Comany. So dont think You Forklift Truck Drivers Making $13 hr Call the Shots Here.......

You just Happen to Deal with Drivers that dont know how to Handle these situations..

When your Product Starts being Re-consigned/Put in Storage etc...You'll Change your Tune real Quick to start Unloading trucks in a timely manner

I seldom have a problem, but I always kill 'em with kindness. Most times it works, sometimes it doesn't. I take it all in stride. I learned a very long time ago that to be contrary with them will usually slow things down. Once, I was so nice to the old grouch shipping clerk at an apple shed, I ended up with the offer for dinner, a hotel for the night, since my load wasn't going to be ready, an offer for lunch the next day and he sent me home with a box of Fujis and three bags of Granny Smiths. It was a good day. I don't get worked up over much.

Why would you bribe some lazy POS to do his job? I've had slow unloads but they are far and few between so it's not much of a concern. I've walked in and politely asked for my bills. They ask "why?" and I explain to them I have already offered ample time to get unloaded and I have to go. But seriously, paying someone to do a job their already paid to do? That's absolutely absurd.

Wow anger mgmt. Im not a forklift driver. I havent made 13 dollors a hour for decades. Yes it has happened. Define ample time to unload you? Did you get there early and got pissed becuse they wouldnt take you early? You say pure lazy is it lazy or busy doing something other than bowing to the all mighty truck driver? I am a truck driver i have done plenty of forklift work. Either way you still get paid to sit on your ###. Oh lordy theres a truck driver thinks im lazy . What arangment are you notifing them of? Your inability to wait? I must just be lucky i guess, i dont run into forklift drivers who are lazy, busy maybe. Just going to lunch oh well my bad timing. Just get caught up on paperwork. Dont really get lazy ones. Ive asked hey any idea on how long im gonna be? And there answers are reasonable. Like i said guess im just lucky. And your just angry.
