I see an impressive amount of edge protection, and straps/chains all along the 5.

What gives? How does this happen?

I know very little about flat bed. I keep thinking about pulling over and grabbing all the gear. You know dumpster diving on the freeway. Sounds like a real Darwin awards moment and stupid way to die.

Some drivers don’t care. This is my headache rack. The cable holding my edge protectors is a 1250 lbs WLL stainless steel cable I took extra thought into so it won’t happen to me.

    Most drivers don’t care.

Ooooh. I assumed it was popping off freight it was holding down. So some of it’s from improperly stowed or secured securement?

Some did come off a load. Maybe strap broke/cut or worked loose and it slipped out. Some is not stored properly when not being used. Might have been in a box and the door was not closed properly.

Thing is, unless you stop and get the stuff, no way to know if it’s any good.

I always see a bunch of gas cans.

I once saw a perfectly good 5’ toolbox - $600 worth, in the median. I was so tight on time I couldn’t warrant turning around to get it.

You could make a fortune. Edge protectors are not exactly cheap, let the straps be but grab those chains.

I've picked up a lot of rigging at rail crossings. Guys leave stuff...winch bars, flashlights, straps, bungees, and chain binders mostly...on the deck or the drom or the fuel tank. They take off and lose it on the first good bump.

I always look for wallets or brown bags of cash. I’ve never seen any. A bag of cash would be nice.

I saw a guy on a full dresser loose a Mac10 out of his saddle bag about 11 years ago. Curvy 2 lane, no place to pull over n grab it. Still think about that from time to time :(

As good as that might seem, don’t think I would want to have that. Never know where it may have been used.
