Just depends on the company really.

I remember the canned message "Please head towards •Mobile Al• we will make every effort possible to provide your work assignment as soon as possible" Used to get that message before delivery in Miami FL quite often. About a 700 mile deadhead to a preloaded trailer at Kimberly Clark.
I might have sat 5 days in 6 years with Schneider. I was off every other weekend no matter what so I usually ran to one corner of the country down to Laredo and back home to Dallas. Those were the days for me. Paper logs, they wouldn't dispatch illegally but we could drive until we were tired and lay down for 6 or 7 hours, wake up and get through Chicago before 5am. Great times indeed. -
And yet, for a company driver that is getting paid for all miles, I don't mind a 700 mile deadhead to a different location.
Dna Mach Thanks this. -
Yep... don't mind it a bit.

Thanks. But the big problem is some drivers do not understand the situation or believe another truck driver when the whole truth and the big picture is given to them. Some put more faith in the recruiter that told them they will get 2500+ miles a week and never are of the intellectual curiosity to check into the real facts themselves.
