Hi there, i got a freightliner columbia '02, 13spd, lately has started to drop 13th and 12th spds when going downhill without using throttle pedal. Clutch and reman trans are 8mo old. Any suggestions are welcomed.

May be programmed to downshift a gear to get rpms up on the governor. Engine brakes work best at higher engine rpms. Old Cummins’ with Jakes always loved 2100 rpm. Very quick Slow down.

Never heard of a Jake just throwing a trans into neutral tho. That will just stall the engine instantly.
