Frustrating Idle Cutoff

What hole in the sleeper? Scottie puts his portable A/C in the window. And I see lots of company trucks with toolboxes and all kinds of other stuff on the catwalks.

 

Just repeating what they sent out on the Qcom when I was there. Your bicycle falls off? Swift is liable. yadda yadda etc.

Just like the spinner knobs. Not allowed, seldom enforced.

You're full of advice and information that is mostly bluff, bravado and usually outdated and wrong. You don't even work for Swift, yet to read your posts, you are an expert in all things Swift. Why don't you go give those good looking dogs a bath and avoid clicking on the Swift part of this forum in the future.

A lot has changed since you left Rug Trucker, we are now allowed to have an air conditioner installed through a hole cut in the sleeper, but we have to have it done at a terminal, they don't want no hatchet jobs.

The shops are even strapping down spare mudflaps to the catwalks.

Mudflaps tuck nicely into the spare tire. A cat walk is there to walk on. Not questioning you on that. Taking bungee's and strapping freight bars to a cat walk is a no-no with the DOT. Seldom enforced. They claim they can slide out.

How do you stow your generator? Is it bolted down? How do you safely, and legally store your fuel?

Do the shops really cut holes in the sleeper? Seems like that would lower resale value. Or are you pulling my leg?

 

Try turning cruise on then hitting ACC/RES button, this works in my 2012.

 

I have that 2000 Honda generator that sits on the floor in front of the passenger seat. When the time comes, I put it under the hood next to the passenger steer tire and lock it up then close the hood. Run an extension cord out the passenger window, secure with the window, a 4 inch piece of plastic vent hole thingie then plug in the dryer vent type hose into that and the back of the air conditioner which rides on the passenger seat. The generator will run almost 9 hours straight on a single gallon of gasoline, plus I have a 2 gallon gas can that I stow in one of the storage cubby holes under the bunk (outside access).

OK I didnt' want to highjack your thread, but you had mentioned the inconvenience for your driving partner when you have to go check in at the shipper, therefore creating a situation where the idle cut off might interrupt their sleep.

I say, someone has to suffer, make it the shipper and receiver. Pull onto their property, sit there for the required time and depress the clutch to disengage the idle cut off. What are they gonna do, send a squad of fully armed security guards to surround your truck and demand you check in right then and there, no delays?
