Fuel Bonus Scam

I 100% understand your frustration, but calling it a "scam" is a bit heavy handed. It's not like they lied to ya. They wanna see 8.0, you got 7.9-- seems pretty straightforward to me

 

It's a scam with most companies like any bonus it's ########.

Let's put you into this tuned down truck and have you grab this 44k lbs load. Also routing goes through Pennsylvania and Colorado. Also truck doesn't have a apu or anything but to idle while parked. But we put in a 5min idle shutdown

When I was there 10 years ago, the magic number was 7.0. But back then they still had manual transmissions. I've driven both and leased two automatics. I was averaging 8.5-9.0 mpg in my Volvo. It wasn't governed though.

 

Nowadays the magic number is 10 and some companies dangle that number like carrots in front of rabbits and they know that with some truck drivers it’s a long shot at best with a heavy payload and/or driving through terrain with changes in altitude.
