    I'm interested in thoughts about whether using additives is worth the expense, or is it nessesary when operating mechanical pump engines on ultra low sulfer fuel. If so... how to add a reasonably priced lubricity additive to my fuel program. Thanks for your input. Bob

    Personally like the tc3 2 stroke oil from Wally world. Good lubrication and is designed to burn unlike regular motor oil. 1/2 gallon per side or so at fill up, then 1 quart or so per side every fill after initial start.

    I've heard this before... Makes better sense than cheap motor oil or ATF...

    I just met a guy who brings his 1999 Volvo to the same mechanic as I do. He has 2 mil miles on his Detroit Series 60, that thing never has been overhauled or repaired, all original except turbo and he swears by Diesel Kleen, says he is using it every fill up and his overall mpg for the last 5 years is 8.5 mpg. I am gonna try that for a month and see what it does to my n14

    I've heard of drivers using 2 cycle oil in fuel. Problem is it BURNS. Same thing with atf now you risk a chance of ruining injector over it.

    @KAK

    Here ya go. Old School Model T building motor machinist friend of mine turned me on to it years ago and I never looked back. $12 a gallon. Doesn't effect my DPF. Increases my performance/mileage for sure.

    There does seem to be a sweet spot with my EPA10 ISX however. It doesn't like too much. My old S60 Detroit I'm sure would have been happy running a 50:50 mix of the stuff.

    01 N14, I use Schaeffers winter and summer additive.

    Guy I run with uses ATF on his big cam Cummins.

    It burns? So does diesel fuel the last time I checked.

    Low lubrictiy fuel can do more damage to an injector then the two stroke oil, the ratio is roughly a quart to 50 gallons of fuel for a decent mix.

    ATF has specific additives for use in a transmission, it isn't designed to be burnt even though it will. Two stroke is.
