yep, had those on the oilfield trucks I drove, and they also ended up in the bottom of the tank. Anything added on, is subject to vibration, and if NOT maintained and tightened, it will fail. Glad yours are still in place.

and even with those in place, a power pump with small multiple tubes will suck you dry, or as has been mentioned, they just cut the fuel line to get at it. Most crooks will move on to an easier target, but not all. all depends on their motive

I seen the "perfect setup" on fuel theft once, by a guy Maysville, KY.. think it was a BP, been a few years back, anyhow, the guy had his two kids stealing fuel in the middle of the night, I was eating a late breakfast and seen it happening out the window of the fuel stop, went outside and confronted them and "woke" up their parents and there was the mother & father..*wondered how many people were in this truck...* acted like they just woke up, but you can tell the difference.. and said their apologies & said they would pay to make it right, and offered $20 I told them it wasnt my truck, just seen them and notified them of what was going on, afterwards, I was sitting in my truck on the bed doing my paperwork on the little almost worthless table of a freightliner and seen the kids walking by again with the fuel can, it may have been all of 15-20 minutes gone by, they didn't waste much time..not going to mention the company name, but they used to have a 'checkered flag' on the trucks along with the name of the company ;-)

Grocery warehouse in Florida and I arrived in the middle of the night and the security guard had me park in a dark corner of huge parking lot..
In the morning receiving clerk knocks on door and has me back into a dockdoor,as I am backing in I notice my tires keep spinning?
I get out and look and my caps are off..
I call my boss and tell him I got fuel stolen and he tells me its the 2nd time at same location..

I tpld the security guard on my way out that if I ever returned or if my company has any trucks EVER come back to this location we will be parking in the middle of the parking lot under the streetlight from now on..

They have the fuel transfer pumps, empty you out real quick. Under paid driver, cant make it, took your fuel, go back and see if there is video at the place, possible truck plate. good luck.

It's probably some local moron, they don't have to pay IFTA so it won't matter, I usually make a note at night if the trucks beside me I think are questionable as to who they are.

If they get caught, good luck explaining to the IFTA officials how your semi gets 25 mpg.

There was a group around Atlanta stealing fuel and then reselling it cheap.

If you get caught stealing fuel, they should take your CDL for life.

I've mentioned this in the past and will mention it again. Some truck builder needs to create a system that works like a fuel level float, and goes into both tanks. Any rapid level decrease in one or both tanks that is not matched by a level increase in the opposite tank, or cutting the theft alert system wires, while the truck is parked will set off an alarm, flash the lights, send a message over qualcomm, and whatever else.

I'd spend $300 per unit on such a system if it worked. Just a few of these coming online would make fuel thieves think twice about the practice. If it happens when fuel is relatively low, imagine how often (and costly) it is when fuel is back above $4.00/gal

Great idea. How bout a check valve? One way in, that's the way to go. I like your idea though. Or tie your pit bull under the truck.

Never had it happen to my knowledge and never given it much thought. I never seen or experienced really any of the drama stuff like this. Nobody's ever stolen fuel from me. Never had my 5th wheel pulled. Never been propositioned by a lot lizard. Been asked for rides and money by a couple sorry looking sacks but that's about it.
