Thanks, Judge.
That's good news about Schneider. Seems like I heard they cancelled their new-driver training.
I have been studying quite a bit for the exams. Should I test in Cali? Would it be accepted in other states?

Wherever your home state is.
There’s practice exams on this site.
On mobile, at top of page hit the button next to forum, has three or 4 hash marks, click and go to practice tests.hidden1 Thanks this. -
Yep! They are one of the companies I'd like to get on board with.
Experience is key, though.Chinatown Thanks this. -
You can haul dry van freight in a reefer, but can't haul refrigerated freight in a dry van. This mean, keeping the wheels turning easier.
Usually, OTR refrigerated drivers get much longer runs than dry van drivers.
I've hauled tomatoes from California to Florida and then a different type tomato right back out of Florida going to California.austinmike, 4wayflashers and hidden1 Thank this. -
Judge,
How close are the online practice tests compared to the actual test? Do you recommend any particular testing material?
Also, is it best to take all three together or split them up?
thanks! -
You can go by a DMV and ask for a cdl skills boom, they’re $10 in AR and that’ll cover a test, I’ll have to do one of the free tests here, I haven’t done one of those, just knew where they werehidden1 Thanks this.

I downloaded the Cali testing book. Quite extensive! I also see many others available for purchase. Just wondering if some are better than others.

Nah, they just try and trick you with questions written by a guy who has never set foot in a truck,
The practice tests here are random,
I repassed a tanker test real quick just to test it out.
hidden1 Thanks this. -
I've taken a those a few times and do pretty well, too. Just hope the actual test is that easy.

Most are common knowledge just to see if you read the book.
Like it says going down a hill to “Fan” brakes by slowing 5 mph, release then gain and slow again.
That’ll get you killed on a mountain, releasing the brakes allows air to them and they heat up quicker, slow speed, steady brake, if brake pressure gauge is available not over 10 lbs pressure and it’ll hold, The ones who “Fan” are the ones with brakes on fire running wild down a mountain trying to hit a run off ramp.
