I only drive a mere 14-wheel "freighthaulermobile" as I've seen it blithely described by at least one, but as one who's not in the habit of hitting things I don't want my truck banged up either.
I remember well the time I had a few four letter words with the nitwit who crushed my exhaust heat shield because he was too stupid to slide a fifth wheel.4mer trucker and wore out Thank this. -
This Decker driver dragged his trailer into my hood late one night then panicked and drove all the way around back looking for a back exit. There is only one way in and one way out of this truck stop though so we were able to corner him before he bailed. The cops didn't want to charge him with hit and run because he was still at the truck stop. Another driver cussed this Decker driver up and down for what he did and another driver parked near me said he was gonna call Decker Monday morning after and try to get the driver fired.

When I was a company driver I looked after that truck like it was my own, did a lot of PM on it as well. It was mainly for the reason that none of the spare trucks sitting around were worth a ####.

Say I'm a sado-masochist... Shall I beat your ### so you do the favor in return to help me get my rocks off?
You don't want an S&M'er doing unto others.... The Golden Rule is based upon the (false) notion that all people behave morally and with civility. -
But anyway while I was in the Pilot on Lovell Road in Knoxville, TN taking a shower some box truck hit it while it was parked (in a parking spot) and tore the hood up. The truck that hit it left in a hurry.
I heard them over the intercom while shaving asking if a driver for ..... was in the truckstop. When I got out they showed me the video of it, there was even a driver who witnessed it, the police came and saw this... ....the only trouble was my witness didn't catch the name of the company who hit my truck.
The video was too grainy to make out any logo on their door. And so they got away with it scott free.... that is what happens more often than you think when these things happen on video...... the cops don't give a #### they just write a report. -
So in a sense yes, company drivers get to sleep easy knowing it ain't really their problem if somebody dings the truck up and it isn't their fault. The guy in the brand new $162,000 Pete 389 he just signed his life away for is a little anxious when Swift's latest rookie is setting up for an alley dock next to him.
Two things: I don't park in stupid spots or in stupid truck stops with aisles that are too narrow...that's just asking for it. And I also try not to park next to nice trucks if I can help it. Not that I don't trust myself but you never know.
