I've had the same exact thing as the op. Brake chamber decided to develop a leak just before the scale house. (On 80 coming out of the Bay area). I got a violation, no oos, no ticket, just a violation on the inspection. Mine didn't even say it needed to be certified and sent back in, but it did say that the truck needed to be fixed before it was dispatched again after that load. I was dropping that load at the terminal anyway so it got fixed right then.

I got a 'fix it ticket' in California eleven or twelve years ago. I had a couple small dings in the windshield that were out of the drivers field if vision. Going over Donner, they cracked and raced each other to the otherside of the windshield. I got pulled into the Donner scales and given the 'fix it ticket'. I looked for a windshield all around my route but couldn't find one. I finally found one near Fontana. I stopped at the scales on I10 on my way out of California and showed them the new windshield. They signed off on it and that was that.

In 22 years of driving local in Cali, I’ve received two fixit tickets. They let me go, the company fixed it, I went back to the scale house to have it checked, problem solved.

I got a fixit ticket at the Truckee scale for one brake out of adjustment. They let me keep going and said 10% or less brakes out of adjustment was not a out of service. Ended up having to get a new slack adjuster and stopped at another scale and they signed it off and put a sticker on the trailer. Also got a fixit ticket for an air leak at a fitting on the 4way on my tractor. Was on Ca 58 just east of Kramer Junction where the dot used to set up.

Not once did this driver post he was OOS. An air leak only puts you OOS when the air compressors can not maintain the pressure in tank.
When you receive a “certification of correction” you must have the person doing the repairs sign on the mechanic's line. Then someone from your company (can be you) needs to sign it and fax it back to the state that gave it to you. If you forgot to have the mechanic sign it then fax in the repair bill with it.

IF you were put OOS (which I doubt you were)
then your license will be suspended.

Give the citation and documentation to your safety manager. He or she will fax it to the DOT showing the problem was resolved. Make sure you make copies for yourself.

I got one and was told to fax a copy if t the repair bill and the citation to them within 15 days and was good to go. Wasn't neccesary to go to the scale to show proof of repair. That's in Ontario Canada.

If you go back a scale house and have them sign it off, you’ll get a cool sticker on your windshield. I realize this isn’t always feasible with otr guys. Just an FYI.

Went to a different scale house and got the fix it ticket signed off now I just need to mail it. BUT while they were inspecting the truck they just had to find something. A yellow tubing hose with a small white spot..this time they did put me out of service. Called my company and got it fixed and cleared within an hour.
