Hi i’m lookin to hire a driver but he has a”Automatic Restriction” on his license. But he has learned to drive a manual since he got his cdl. Do you guys know what he needs to do to get the restriction off? Or can he just drive my manual truck. Anyone ever deal with this? Thanks

He’ll have to do the driving test again, this time in a manual transmission.
Will be issued a ticket if caught driving a manual transmission and you’ll send a qualified driver to pick the truck up.

Nope no easier way to prove you know how to drive something than to actually drive it

    slow.rider Thanks this.

Why do that? If his driver is wanting, and willing to have the ‘income restriction’ removed from his cdl, it’s a win, win.

Written test and driving test in a manual. Auto only shouldn't be a thing, but thank megacorps for that. The way I have seen people backup since I came back on the road, is scary. I've not seen people unable to backup since the boat ramp, and now they give them a CDL and they can't bump a dock with less than 10 pull ups

For the most part, I agree with you.
I drive a straight truck tanker, pulling a pup tanker, there are days backing up everything’s falls into place, other days it feels like I couldn’t back up to the broadside of a barn, from the inside.

out of curiosity. What sort of income restrictions are you talking about? Im going to be testing in a Manual so I do not have a restriction myself.
