So I went to trucking school and got my cdl with no problem. Went to train with KLLM and my training experience was horrific. I then decided to leave there and go to Roehl when student support just wouldn’t help me. Had a great training experience, my trainer said all nice things told them I was ready even a little early. Went to take my upgrade test and their instructor made me so nervous I had an auto fail on the backing portion. They sent me home, paid for a new med cert as they told me when they sent me home it was just for medical cert appt. The day I turned in my med cert they called and told me that since I failed my upgrade on backing that they were letting me go. Now I’m struggling to find anyone to hire me for dry van or refer. Any ideas? Don’t tell me to give up. I’ve been turned down by about 30 companies but I really want to make this happen.

Keep applying to other companies & go work at ANY job while you keep looking for CDL jobs. Any legal money is more money than not working. It shows you are responsible.

FOod service, beverage delivery ( soft drinks, beer), construction, dump truck, are usually hiring.

Like so many others, your issue is probably more mindest and anxiety than anything else. The problem is that if you cant control it, youre going to continue to have issues.

Im not saying to give up, Im saying to develop your mental resilience before continuing, this will help in the job search too, being constantly turned down takes a toll, but the better you can shrug that off, the better position you will be in to keep going.

So, you are under 2 seperate school contracts?

KLLM & Roehl, both have extensive contracts for any type training.

I'd like a little more context.....what made KLLM so horrific? To leave a company so early in your career really reduces your room for error. You've struck out twice before you've really had any viable experience. These companies may be thinking you're in over your head. Who have you applied to so far? Where are you located? I further the advice to apply to any and everybody.

What exactly is an "auto fail on the backing portion?"

Also, go get any job right now. But sitting at the house unemployed looks really bad to any company. I got my CDL in 2015 and worked as a dispatcher for a while before being hired as a driver. They liked seeing me employed while I was looking.

Wait, what is this about the physical and you turning it in?

that’s not company property, that’s yours no matter who paid for it.

Without knowing approx where you are -- either a nearby city/state...&/or a zip code....it's pretty tough to make suggestions about where to go/who to apply with, next.

Note also that. ...the overall CDL job market right now....in many places....is pretty much at the bottom of the septic tank.

Because of this --it's tough even for experienced drivers with clean records to find CDL work...in a lot of areas.

As things stand now -- you've "spun out & hit the wall" (so to speak)....with 2 different "starter" carriers.

Thus -- you will have to convince any next carrier to which you apply....that you are somehow worth their time & effort.

    It is what it is.....
