Hello professionals! Wish you the best rates and loads!

    Post about getting own MC

I'm a company driver and working for them for about 4 years now. Now I saved about $90k cash (and just in case everything goes wrong I have about $60k credit card limit for repairs etc.) and really want to buy my very first truck and get my own numbers. I know some of you will say its a bad time to jump in but I started driving for a company just to save a little and get my own truck and MC. So I believe when market will improve I'll be ready :D

I've already read a lot of information here and really appreciate everything you share here guys, it's really the best place for truck drivers to be.

But I just want to make sure I'm really prepared for all paperwork headache before jump in.

    Question
How does it look like right now to get your own authority from start to finish? And how long it's gonna take?

    3.
    etc.
I am looking for a truck right now but want to start the process now so which step require to have a truck already?

Thank you in advance and again, best loads for you guys!

Become an OOIDA member and they will take you by the hand to set you up.
They may have some fee, but it is important not to screw up with setting yourself up.

Used truck prices are melting down, so maybe waiting a few months more would be not such a bad idea, especially that at that point you might have over $100k at your disposal instead of $90 k, and at present time, probably, you still make more where you're at v.s. hauling load boards freight with fresh own authority.

I'm not sure but you should probably start with incorpating and getting your business license in order. But you tube has ton of info also on what's needed to start up

Are you purchasing new with warranty or something older? Keep saving that money. 90K should be after you purchase your truck and trailer. Relying on credit is a mistake. Always plan for the worst case scenario, because life throws you punches and lemons. You can make lemons out of lemonade, but even Muhammad Ali couldn't avoid all of the punches thrown at him.

    Best of luck to you.
