I don't think they have a preference. It's just a matter of what they have outbound that works best to get the driver home. I also don't think the deadhead to home is an issue because of previous sentence.

I have Dh 100 miles before. I'm not sure of the exact cutoff. It usually depends on how many days you want off as to whether they send you home empty or under a load. I'm taking 5 days off so I'm going home empty.

I was running I-70 eastbound in eastern Colorado this morning and a Poly truck passed me (who doesnt pass a Crete truck?), I got the driver on the cb (might have been Jdrenzjr) as he was saying that he was with Crete as a owner-operator until Nov of last year. I was telling the driver that I had faxed my app to Poly on July 3rd and have not heard anything back since, so he gave me the rundown. I will keep emailing them like the driver said.

Got to GP on Thursday and put my truck in for a PM. I called outbound to let them know I wanted a load home for 5 days and I should be ready to roll on Friday. They gave me a North Vernon Indiana load that delivers Sunday at 0530, and told me to go on home after I'm empty. Well, unfortunately the shop was all backed up due to bad wiring from International causing a couple of trucks to burn to the ground. High command had sent word to the shop to check wiring and batteries of every truck as it comes through. This had the shop all clogged up so my PM wasn't done in time for me to take my outbound load with my truck. I instead got a loaner truck to use till I can get back to GP and pick mine back up. The loaner truck is not the best, but I was able to at least get home on schedule. Sometimes you just have to make lemonade...

All good things come to an end....or in this case maybe just a slow down. Been running hard for quite awhile now so this current snafoo will be taken in stride. I delivered in Denver Friday morning, but didn't get a backhaul till Friday afternoon. I reload in Freedom,Ok on Monday morning with a load going to Houston for delivery on Tuesday.....at 1900. That's a little less than 1100 miles in 5 days. OUCH!

However I thought I would try to drop it Monday afternoon in Grand Prairie and get something leaving Tuesday morning with more miles. But, given Chemsters report on the truck electronics situation in GP, I think it may be better to keep what I have and bypass the GP yard for now. I don't want to take the chance of losing even more prodution. At least if I deliver in Houston I have a high probability of getting a transfer load from our Mont Belvieu location to Henderson,NV and I can pass through the house for a night.

Given the fact that all the truck stops in the Denver metro area seemed to be close to full by late Friday morning, I'm not too surprised by this backhaul situation. Plus the past track record of hauling freight for Poly tells me this was probably the best they could find in a tough freight market like Denver. So as stated earlier, I will take it in stride.

Instead of staying in Denver all weekend I drove on down to Liberal,KS yesterday to camp out and do a 34hr restart. Went and saw the new Batman movie. It was good.....and there will be a sequel. The Sunday matinee was only $4.
