I had a conversation with my wife this a.m. about Poly. It was when she was balancing the check book. She said she looked back after last weeks paycheck deposit and cannot remember a time in my career when we had this kind of deposits hit our account on a regular basis without me having to run myself into the ground...even with the frustrating breakdowns...I have made more money here than any place else, and I'm just getting started and have yet to learn most of the tricks.

I spoke to another veteran Poly driver that has echoed some of the same statements that can be read here...be patient, work the system, and remember that I'm at the bottom of the totem pole. Once I get some time served, equipment issues and weeks where you have to roll over your paperwork to the following week are just a minor inconvenience because you have the savings to carry you through.

I just have to learn to take a dozen deep breaths when I'm in one of those 'why am I here' moods and remember I didn't come here to drive the fanciest chromed out 'Caddy' of a truck...I came here because the over all opinion by most of the people I spoke to is that you can make a better living with less stress than at most companies. Is Poly perfect???? Like most have stated...no. But I am by no means qualified to work for a 'perfect' company, if one even exists anyway.

I'm going to make every effort to make the 2nd meeting as well...I'll be the guy in the 'Poly' shirt that got out of the red truck... :biggrin_25517:

When I went to get in my truck last week at the yard, I walked right past it and actually had to think about which one I was in...Another driver sensed my confusion, rolled down his window and said "it's the red one"...

When finances are tight, it's easy to hit the panic button early. I know, as I'm the same way. At almost 53. I'm still learning to take things more as they come, and see the long-term benefits. This is part of what my wife and I have been discussing for several months now about my career. We have both come to the conclusion, jointly, that Poly would be a very good fit for me as a driver and for us as a couple in regards to our needs, both in terms of income and home time. We've elected to have me stay put until probably February or March, get through the holidays and a few scheduled family events (graduations, holidays, etc.), then apply at Poly.

.....and I thought life would get easier after 50. Someone gimme a dope slap!

Was following your thread quite a bit back in the spring when I applied with poly.
I have been with gordon for over 4 years now. But while I was told my app was approved I never got a call.
Contacted recruiting a month ago and was asked to resubmit a new app.
She said at the time I applied they were focusing on a different area.

This week gordon was purchased by heartland. For me this is a disaster. I really did not want to leave gordon when I applied but felt I should check it out.

Now I am actively looking for a new company since I would never work for heartland.

Glad to see you guys are still doing well though..

Hope you never have to experience this..

Hey, thanks for asking. I'm doing just fine out here. I upgraded to the latest IPhone about a month or so ago. Somehow in the shuffle I got locked out of here. I somehow managed to not type in my KNOWN password correctly and was locked out. Then they thought someone was trying to hack my account. I requested a new password several times with no luck. They would Email me the new password but the system would still lock me out when I tried to Login. I could read everyone's Posts but couldn't respond or Post things of my own. Finally got some extra time to mess with it further today. After a few calls and some password changes I'm happy to be back.
Sounds like you have been doing ok out there for the most part. Still procrastinating getting your butt over here(hehe). It's all good...I hope you continue to do well out there and wish you the best in whatever you continue to do in your career. Hopefully all works out well if you come to Poly or not. Thanks again for asking and take care out there. :)

Glad to hear all is well. Yeah, I was getting a bit concerned about ya! But all this wonderful modern technology is here to make our lives easier. :biggrin_2556:

Things are going well here at Crete, for the most part. I'll hit my personal income goal this year, but the longer available hometime is really what my wife was encouraged about if I were to make it to Poly. Probably start the app process in early March. Stay safe, friend!

I had something like that happen with me. My tablet, which remembers the password, doesn't show it...when I got home I tried to log on using my desktop...but I had changed the password since the notice about the system being hacked...and I forgot what it was...so I finally figured it out and got logged on with my desktop...but when I went to use my new smartphone to set it's automatic password 'remember me' function...I couldn't get on with it....I finally got it to work, but it was a bit frustrating. Kinda makes me want to convert to being Amish...then if your technology fails(like the wheel of the wagon falling off)...you just have to make another wheel and put it on

Hey SSB, sounds like you've been going through some tough luck over here at Poly. Seems the truck situation here at Poly is at it's worst since I've been here. I would be extremely frustrated if I were dealing with a lot of things you've posted...who wouldn't? However, you've just got to suck it up and get through it brother. You gave Crete so much of your life I'm sure that if you take a deep breath you'll see you still made an AWESOME move. I agree your luck has been worse than many. Eventually the truck deal will come around. Spend your energy focusing on maximizing the learning curves here to get more of what you want. The tools are here. Figure them out more and you'll keep smiling and doing the "Dance". Unfortunately, bad luck hits us all from time to time. I've been in and out of a loaner a few times the last few weeks myself. I sometimes think Majestyk is going to be the company record someday(hehe). Anyways, I look forward to meeting you some day and hope your luck improves. Just hang in there. I KNOW my worst days here are still sometimes better than my good weeks with Crete. If you could give Crete so much you can give Poly a LOT more. Good Luck with it. I'm pulling for you to do well and reduce the stress on yourself and family. Take care out there.

I think the biggest issue is getting use to working for a company that does things different than the way I'm use to. After almost 10 years over at Crete, I got use to the way they do things...so getting use to doing things the Poly way will take a little time. It'll work out here...I just have to remember even with the breakdowns...I'm still making better money here than my best days at Crete.

    LilRobWayne Thanks this.

Heartland bought Gordon???? Holy Crap-a-molie...Soon it's gona be Schneider, Swift, Celadon, Heartland and Weener on the dry side...Glad I work for a totally debt free privately owned freight hauling division of a much larger privately owned corporation. All the more reasons for me to stay patient and plan for a long career here.

    Good luck!!
