Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

To prove that not all my posts are negative...my day started out elcrapo. One of our regular box store d/c's, which is usually pretty quick, took 3 hours to unload 5 pallets. Which sucks because I had 7 hrs between appointments and 375 miles to drive. I called and warned Outbound, gave him an estimated ETA and proceeded. Got to Cincinnati and came to a screeching halt due to a wreck that blocked all but 1 lane and the entrance ramp. Then, of all times, my truck decided to get crappy fuel mileage, so I was going to have to stop and do a splash and go. I get to my next stop, almost 2 hrs late. Thinking that I am either going to have to come back, or camp out because this is the other box store d/c that is known for their lengthy unloads. I check in, and thankfully they let me in. 2 hours later my 9 pallets are unloaded and I am sitting in a parking spot at a truck stop waiting for tomorrow so I can bump off my next stop. For once fate smiled on me, or karma was busy elsewhere.

My next stop is in the morning and my final stop is an M&P that stops receiving at noon, so that delivery has to wait until Thursday. When I called him yesterday, he was happy to hear I was comming, but a bit disappointed that it had to be Thursday. I guess he is down to his last 20 cases of product and hopes they hold out until I get there, so it is lucky for both of us that today worked out the way it did.

 

Yes, this post is full of positive material, except for all the delays and delivering hold ups.

 

The positive part is......I didn't fly off the handle ranting and raving about how this, that, or the other sucks and the world is out to get me...I stayed patient, calm, cool and collected and it worked out just fine. In the end, it was a positive day.

 

I have a question for the mods...did the server get hacked? Everything else is in english but my recent and related threads section look like:

 

I looked at ttr last night . There was whole lot of that asian writing. Mainly on the good companies section.

Well, no good deed goes unpunished. Without getting into a lot of details, let's just say my recent un-hateful post might be a rarity and it has to do with the potential missing of one of the few specific dates I requested for home time weeks in advance...and cannot afford to fly home for. So, not only does it screw me over, but it also screws my wife over. So now the patient one in my relationship is coming around to my anti-Poly thinking.

 

Thats why I left. I told them I had to be home for a event my daughter was in. Gave them 7 weeks notice and I guess that wasn't enough. I can take a lot of crap but don't mess with my home time when I need to be home on a certain date.

 

I have a question. Is it considered abandonment if instead of taking this backhaul to Houston, I warn them that I am bringing it to GP, and that they will have my load to cover and my empty truck to fill because I am so p/o'd that I am about quit? My wife will now have to cancel her business plans and possibly lose her job all because this freekin' company can't plan their way out of a wet paper bag. And no one seems to give a flying flip about it.
