Things must have changed a lot in dry van since the last time I pulled one. February used to be one of the slowest months of the year

Opti idle does a decent job of keeping the truck cool. Problem is that it only works when the keys are in the ignition, unlike the APUs I have used. If you are in hot weather and want to take a shower, the truck will get fiercely hot before you get back to the truck, unless you leave your keys in the ignition while you go take a shower.
The truck also rocks pretty heavily sometimes when the opti-idle starts or stops the engine.Rollr4872 Thanks this. -
Do they give you more expanded choices of what loads you want though? If you get to choose loads, you will likely not get as many stinkers. That could lead to dramatically better pay.

Yes, you get 3 load offers like we used to as company driversFarmerbob1 Thanks this.

Do company drivers still get 3 load offers
-
No, they stopped it for everyone several years ago when the economy took a dump but they have since brought it back for owner operators & it's rumored that the offers are coming back for everyone but I've been hearing that for quite a while. I'm not holding my breath on that.Rollr4872 Thanks this.

Truck payments and fuel are coming out of your pocket as an owner operator and they don’t even let you choose your own loads? And there are drivers who actually accept that? That would never fly with me.

Well I hope Gordob would be kind enough to share his experiences as he purchases a truck from Crete. As far as miles run, where to(you don't have to share customer location but city location would be cool I hope), what kind of paychecks he is receiving, and maintenance issues that may pop up. Mostly so people can see what it's like and if it's for them. The last O/O thread for Crete was from 6 years ago and provides little info to people wanting to try it in 2018. And I know he is only doing it to buy the truck in 6 months but those 6 months of info should help people make their decision.
Farmerbob1 and ilikepizza247 Thank this. -
Will do. It's probably going to be April or May before I take the plunge but I'll start a detailed threadFarmerbob1, 386lover and ilikepizza247 Thank this.

You do get 3 to choose from & if you don't like those, I'm sure they'll throw some more offers to you. It would be nice to choose from a board though, if that's what you meant.
