Is it required if you are going eastbound to stop for inspection? Does day or night matter?

It's in your best interest. DOT sometimes camps out there and will pick off a truck that passes it

Always stop. It's Monteagle ,by the way. There is hardly ever an " inspection". They want you to start from a stop so that you will survive the downgrade. You will find these all over the country on every type of road. Usually some fairly stiff fines for not stopping.

You would want really to stop and take a look at her.

Its a relatively smaller mountain But if something was developing on that rig somewhere and you did not inspect? Oh well. Nice knowing ya. =)

Ive always tried to take a minute to look things over. I have a theory that trying to save a few minutes over the hill will result in possibly spending a eternity never going anywhere.

Isn't there a sign that says pull in for inspection? Didn't know if that was a request or an order .

You will have to ask someone who climbed that hill today that question. Sign or not, I'll do what I'll do.

Things have changed quite a bit since my time. Its very common to halt at summit of a hill somewhere and go over her just to be sure all is well.

I can think of a couple situations where I did not halt, usually involving powdered snow deep enough to make it really doubtful to get going again. I'll keep moving.

I'm going over about 12 midnight. Guess I'll stop. Grab a flashlight and hammer, look for leaks and bang the tires. Thanks all.

    bryan21384 and x1Heavy Thank this.

Don't forget to stick your hands between hub and inside wheel rim palm down halfway in between. If one or more is running hot you will know it. (Outside wheels as you do walk around)

It's very easy . You pull into the pull off area. There an overhead electronic sign. You pull up to it and stop . When the light turns green you ease on down thr hill. There is a right and the left lane. Just watch out for some ####### on the other side racing you to the merge point before you go back onto the Interstate

    Smut Thanks this.

Been down it 100 times, amazingly never in a truck. Always went north or east. Went down to orientation and started noticing and wanted to ask. Came up the backside last week.
