I would say don't be concerned at this point. You are making $50 a day and not being paid by the mile. Get your 175 hours then get upgraded first. You will then be assigned to a fleet manager who will talk to you about this, or they will speak to you at upgrade about it. Either way welcome to USA Truck.

Worry about it now. Don't put off anything here at USA, you will find yourself shuffled to the back of the bus if you stand idle. If your trainer is worth their salt they will explain otr & regional to you, its part of the company and their job is to teach you about the company, as well to drive.

if your trainer don't know or doesn't think ANY QUESTION is important, shoot me a message, I will turn you on to a friend of mine here, who is a trainer (not mine), Marc McCracken, he will help you. Good luck.

Let me ask you a question. Can a student decide if they will be regional or OTR while a student? By what mechanism can they do this. Who do they speak to to make this decision. Carol Spicer in training? Someone in upgrade? Would you please tell me who other then a fleet manager can a driver speak too about this? Last time I checked a student has no fleet manager and it is the training people at Van Buren that control the movements of the students relative to their trainers. Yes a trainer should discuss with a student what is going on, but till they get their own truck there is really nothing to decide and nothing to put off. I mean this, where does a student go to make an official decision? So other then knowing the difference between regional and OTR and the mileage difference as well as the new hometime policy what more can a student do. You seem to have more inside information about this, I really would love to know who USA Truck has set up to get this information from the students. Because last I heard it was the FM's who was asking this of their drivers. So I eagerly await your reply.

Did I say anything about making a decision? The kid obviously has a question, he needs information because in just a short among of time he his going be making a decision, more than likely he will get stuck with a fm who knows nothing and won't even give him the opportunity to make a decision, he will just be doing something and not even know what to ask.

My fm has been here for many years so I have no issues. But I know multiple people here who pull their hair out with the fm. This kid needs to ask every question and start preparing RIGHT NOW. This place will eat your lunch in terms of lack of information. Everything from pay to home time. Being pro active will keep you ahead (or at least in) the curve.

That's exactly what I gathered from your post. Same reason I said, ask your trainer. If he don't know, ask your liaison. One of those will know something. Need to know the ins and outs of this, because as of right now, not a #### one of us here even knows about regional. Other than what little info is here in this thread. Same reason this thread began.

I haven't gotten the inside info yet. My FM, said when it was time for me to make a decision he would fill me in with all the info.
