I can't answer your main question, but I can the last one. In general USA Truck allows you to keep a cooler/fridge in the truck. If you get assigned an international without an inverter your out of luck, as USA Truck won't allow you to install one.

jamie told me if i bought an invertor the garage would install it is this true or is it like a used car dealer saying anything to get me there
-
If I remember correctly, you have to buy it from them and then they have to install it. Or maybe just buy and approved one and have them install it. But most likely you will get a truck with APU and you can run anything in there. ProStar, fridge in Pass seat and cold drinks ready by your side.
goodchoice10 Thanks this. -
ok, umm I start to school at Drivers Solution on Monday 11/14/11. Going with USA, didnt really have a choice but that is cool bc they are like 20 min away from home. I have been logging into this site for ever since I found it and the info is priceless. Im scared. Not break down on the side of the road, someone knocking on the window outside of your truck and your in a deserted reststop its 2 am scared but like this is a whole freakin yr that you have to dedicate to this company to go to school. and I was super excited. Not mind you that I am one to let others "opinions" sway my better judgement but you guys are stating facts not opinions and I am like woah!!! I have tried to do the math and figure up what an average bring home would be I was told that I would be going OTR. coast to coast. I will be honest im not looking to make less than 700 a week. I mean this is a career not a part time retail gig. I have high hopes and am determined to give 150% have to im a girl and I have this have to prove myself thing sitting on my shoulder which is not bad I perform at my best when the heat is up. So question please if your having to wait for a load say 8,10,12 hrs 2 days whatever do you get paid for that time? I dont know of anyone that would want to be sitting million miles from home for free when they got a warm bed and stuff at home. Is this how the buisness is? how have so many dedicated drivers put up with it for so many years? In closing, I read you guys posts all the time one min. im excited the next im thinking what the hey. But in the end you never know if the stove is hot till u put your darn hand on the burner. I have the utmost respect for you guys and let it be known that you are influencial, motivational, and kinda funny LOL thanks

well cant speak for other people on here but i have never had to wait 12 hours or more for a load. And starting out you are not going to be making 700 a week take home. That takes time and increases in pay.You will have to earn the trust of your fleet mgr they will not just hand you the miles starting out.It gets better in due time. You will find plenty of drivers that have worked for USA for more than a year and enjoy working for them
-
I am making about 4 to 500 take home a week. and i have been here 7 months now.
My first fleet manager got fired, and i realized how much he sucked after i got a new one.
but i am on my third FM now, as the second one got canned too. And now i feel like i have to start over and prove myself to this guy now. like he is giving me crappy loads because he does not know me. -
well hopefully he will see your a valuable member and your loads will get better soon

and i had a 9400 truck, without an inverter. and i had this 800 watt inverter, but it had to aligator clip directly to a battery. But then one day i bought a random ciggarett lighter plug, and cut the end off. I stripped the wires, and plugged the wires into the back of the inverter.
And it worked!!
All you need is a cig lighter plug with a fuse in it, and run the wires to your inverter, and it will run everything u need.
I ran my lap top off of it.
And i would just hide it when i went into a terminal. they said they will throw it away if they find it. -
800 watt inverter has a clip directly to the battery for a reason btw... the wires to the cig lighters aren't a very heavy gauge and can't hold a lot of current.
-
yea i tried to get a large guage wire for the cig lighter plug. but it was still half the size of the aligator clip wires.
for a while i carried around a deep cycle battery with me. and would keep it under my bed. but it was hard to keep it charged.
