Going to college while being a trucker?

You should do it. I went to college but didn't finish for IT. Big money in it and plenty of jobs available. I was just trying something different and used some of my GI bill

 

I put myself through college and graduate school driving a truck but it was a local job for a freight company. It was one of the more difficult things I have done but it is doable.
I enjoy trucking so I now do it part-time to supplement my "white collar" salary so my wife can stay home with our children.

 

I can assure you it can be done and it's not a hard as it may seem. If you have discipline and can self motivate, all it takes is time.

 

Yeah I’m not sure what I’m gonna do yet I’m saving money now and taking python programming and ethical hacking courses on Udemy right now I told my self I’d wait 1 year to save and learn thus far I’m having a blast learning ethical hacking feel so bad in a good way hehe

 

Do you want an accredited degree? If so you will be required to show up in person to at least take the exams. They will check your student ID to make sure you are who you say you are. That's how they make sure you doing the work yourself and you aren't paying someone else to do it.

I went down the online courses route and for most classes it was very easy and convienent. But look to see how much math is required. Math is a different animal. You may or may not need additional tutoring. Computer science in accredited institutions requires 8 hours of a natural science (I did physics) and 8 hours of calculus. Depending on your current math ability you may need to work up. I had to start at basic math, true story, and worked my way all the way up... It was a long road, but I did it.

I'm not math or science genius so it took me a great deal of time to learn that stuff to the point I could pass their exams. Something to keep in mind.

If you are going to some private company place I wouldnt worry about it as much. They tend to be more lenient with grading because they arent held to federal standards. Downside is those private companies cost more, they arent federally subsidized.

 

But yeah in a nutshell i had to go in to pass the exams and the community college I went to gave me a one week window for each due test. The liberal arts classes were extremely easy.

No natural science online offered and no math beyond Trigonometry. Only two things I would worry about in your position. And their testing policy since you are OTR.

 

Forget it, you are dreaming. Don’t rock the boat. Stay in your truck and no more silly “I want a college degree” ideas.

 

Oh except for Into to Philosophy. That one was surprisingly difficult. Managed a B but too a lot of reading.

 

Collidge is pretty hard.

 

Plus you have to know to spell. Where in trucking you just have to smell.
