That's a creepy looking bridge. We have one very similar to that around here and I hate going over it because its old, creepy looking and narrow. I have been known to go 15 miles out of my way to avoid crossing it. Hehehehe

Thats the old bridge going from Cape Girardeau Mo into southern Illinois. That and the bridge going from Cairo Ill. into Mo. are probably the narrowest 2 lane bridges I've been across in a truck.

    Johnny,
Is this one of the bridges in the Wycliffe,KY, Cairo, Il, Cape G "triangle"?
We used to run west across KY to Wyckiffe, cross a bridge over the (Ohio??) river, hit a dead end on IL soil. Turn right in to Cairo and take IL3 to E. St Louis.
If you turned left, you went up on another bridge (your pic I presume) crossing the MS River and down on MO soil and on to the Cape.
I'm not questioning your post, just tring to recall if I did that bit back then.
If you really want to live dangerously, load 72 bales of cotton on a flatbed in Steele, MO, know you are over and cannot clear AR at Memphis.
You are going to Black Mtn, NC. Simple- There was no I-155 bridge at Dyersburg then, but there was a ferry. You went down thru the cotton fields till the asphalt played out to gravel. Gravel sunk into thick mud. The ferry hand on this side (MO) fired up an old CAT D6, raised the blade to bump your trailer an pushed you on to the ferry. Concrete ramp on the TN side to drive off. Then the fun of running ACROSS the Smokies in a R-190 gas job, 5 speed OD, no 2 speed. Started snowing right before Asheville.
    AH, the nostalgia of overloading........

The picture was the old bridge going to Cape G from southern Ill. The bridge at Wickliffe Ky is about 30 miles south of the Cape G bridge.

    JolliRoger Thanks this.

The picture was posted by someone else. It was the first post on this page. I just commented on it , and then mentioned the bridge at Wickliffe Ky. Sorry for the confusion.
