For a newbie any load is a good load ! all of them give you experience in something and if you wanna last with a mega carrier then you better take it or you'll be working for McD's

Clayton NC to Deerfield Beach FL. 750 miles 2.5 days to deliver. Pay is good but extra time is a killer. By pay great load time crap load. Too many variables to honestly list good load/bad load but once you get out there you'll see. A load could be crap to me but gravey for you. BUT in this economy I try to see every load as gravey. I'm greedy and ill sugarcoat everything when it puts food on the table.

Crap Load-Plastic pipe 3 in dia. stacked to 13.6 and every bump slips another direction.
Spagetti pipe- Curly cue stainless pipe for chemical plants that takes 22 straps, 14 chains, 50 stakes and still slides.
Brahma calves, weighing 250-300 lb from Texas to Wy, wild as deer, kick 6 feet in the air and all have the runs. You just open your mouth when u check them to keep your face clean.

I've been sitting around all day available, they send me an offer to go from SLC to Cheyenne, I check the weather and see 102 mile per hour winds blowing trucks over on I-80. They claim it's the best and only load available right now.

Crap loads get heaped up on lease operators a lot because they are in such a financial bind they cannot afford to be picky.

And your boss made a mistake on the miles and immediately adds 37 miles to your pay check. The truck stop you pulled into on fumes is selecting 10 random drivers (you're #10)to fill out a simple quick survey in exchange for topping off your fuel tanks for free as well as a voucher for a free oil change and lube.

4 drops, driver unload. And the freight is 800 or so potted trees, whatever those are that you plant around a pool that act as a natural fence, forget the name. They weigh about 35 lbs each. Not loaded on pallets. Laid down in the trailer at an angle, stacked 5 deep so you cannot use a forklift but rather you have to pick each on up and stack it on a pallet so the retail employee can then come get them with a forklift.

The only thing that made it OK was that it was about 2000 miles.

Mine was from Portland and went to two Grand Rapids and two Detroit Home Depots. What a son of a beeotch that load was. You know, it'd be OK if I unloaded the truck like that every day and got up every morning expecting it. Opening that trailer and seeing those plants laid up in there like that killed my spirits for a minute.

The only thing that would have made it worse is if I'd have had to chain up on the way out there somewhere!

Any lumber load is a crap load in my book. They don't pay **** to the truck, and I'm on percentage.

As a rule there are going to be crap loads no getting around it...Most decent dispatchers will remember that you took that crap load & give you the good one later....Drivers that only want good loads all the time & wont take any crap loads dont last very long...
