Out of the shop with a load getting me home.

Manteno fixed all the problems I brought up, which is nice.
Not much of a speed increase. Still at 65 on cruise and the PassSmart was raised from 67 to 68.
Still, it works again and I am fine with my speeds.

    Manteno is a nice place.

Never used the shop, but always liked Manteno ... used to get free fuel there.

    jurupa valley at home.
other driver couldn't make 1st trip due to problems with his dot physical he just took. lsafety put him on hold till he got it fixed.
so I did a pheonix run.
had to wait 2.5 hrs for trailer to get out of shop. ended up leaving jurupa around 1230 and arrived in pheonix terminal at 1800 to tcall.
    then the fun began.
took me the usual 30 minutes to find trailer.
no bol or scale tix(43000 lb according to dispatch).
so called pheonix ect nite crew and told them about the missing paperwork.
same time I told trailer over the terminal scale and drives was 42600 lbs. tandems just over 22000 lbs. thought I was doing it wrong. so went over it 2 more times with same results.
she said she let csr know.
my dl says to take it to a cat scale.
spent about 1.5 hrs dealing with this with ect and was 2000 and was hungry.
so spent another 1.5 hrs this morning taking it to loves.
same overweight. was able to move tandems 4 holes but only went down to 418900.
so called dl and told him and said I was on my way back to drop it off.
he gave me a liter load out of pheonix terminal and tcalled that here at jv terminal.
talked to terminal manager about what happened.
also... nite ect sent me a scale tix the driver that tcalled load there. was only thing he scanned in and weights were 33000 on tandems and 32000 on drives.
tm thinks he had a hard brake on shifted the load.
not sure what was in the trailer. but dispatch said count was 7. so I assuming it was rolls of paper.

    jackoboyo and dwells40 Thank this.

Hard to believe hard braking could shift the load by nearly 11k. Those rolls have a rubber mat under to prevent it, and they are usually pretty far forward to begin with.

Braking hard enough to shift those heavy rolls had to set some alarms off.
And not leaving the paperwork with the trailer?
It seems like that driver needs some serious coaching.

The rolls are split into 3 groups ... one group over the drives and the other toward the tandems.

Agree the they probably wouldn't slide. But they may have spilt over the rear group.

    Moosetek13 and dptrucker Thank this.

Yes they will slide during a hard brake. Was helping a rookie Swift driver back into the docks a while back, all of his rolls were up front in the trailer. He said he had to hit his brakes hard because a car cut him off.

Back in November I was hauling a load of rolls and a woman jumped out in front of me on the freeway. I didn't realize it til the next day, all the rolls were up front as well.

    dptrucker and Moosetek13 Thank this.

    Fargo, ND.

I was given a Costco load out of Owatonna to here with a 1600 delivery, but it was late when dispatched.
Par for the course with Owatonna.

When I got here at 1745 all the docks were occupied and they had no mt for my drop load, and I would have to wait until around 2200 for them to empty a trailer for me to take.
That would be 30 minutes past my 14.

As I was walking out thinking about sitting for 4+ hours and nowhere else to park after, another driver showed up to deliver his 1800 load.
He had hours so we swapped places in line.
He was glad to deliver tonight, even though after a long wait, and I was glad to come back in the morning.

    Sometimes things just work out.

    dptrucker Thanks this.

I go back this morning, and wait.
    And wait, and wait...

During that time I was called from my terminal asking if I could pick up a driver at the local Freightliner shop and drive him back to Owatonna to pick up another truck.
Sure, no problem, but who knows how long I will be here.

I finally got unloaded at 1615 this afternoon, and much too late to pick up that driver and drive back to Owatonna.
I'll pick him up in the morning and head back to Owatonna.

Sometimes things just don't work out.

    dptrucker Thanks this.
