Out of curiosity I checked the job postings for Swift. I figure it’s a good indicator of how the market is going.

Holy hell are their postings limited! Not looking good. I did notice that everything open is in refrigerated. I ran reefer OTR when I was there, and it was decent enough. Maybe look into switching?

    Very strange.

About a year ago I got a tetanus shot and since then that shoulder has been hurting.
It got so bad at one point that I was out of work for 3 days because I could not use my right arm at all.
I attributed it to the shot. The pain level has gone up and down, but has not gotten as bad since then.

But in the past few weeks my left shoulder has started hurting in the exact same place as the right.
The left shoulder is getting worse, but the pain in the right shoulder is getting better. The worse the left gets, the better the right gets.

The load out from home time was pretty good, 600 miles. But it did have an extra day on it with a message that it could not deliver more than 2 hours early.
I sat just over 24 hours, and could have delivered it exactly 24 hours earlier. My DM got me a day of layover pay.
When I got there and mentioned it to the receiving guy, he said they just take them when they come in. Plus I had no appointment time that he could find, and he looked out until the 9th. Today is the 6th.

My next load is about 750 miles total, with better times. So far the load shave been much better this week than in the past month.

    jurupa terminal.
last trip yesterday was sent to get a stolen trailer on san bernardino.
dl says a private carrier might be on it.
if so dont engage but take pics of license plate, company logo and dot numbers.
had a truck hooked to it. so took all the pics needed and left.

    dwells40 Thanks this.

If I'm early I always check in. I'm in milk hauling if that makes any difference. 8 out of 10 times the put me in. All they can say is wait if your early.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

on friday saw a trailer parked on a side road next to the freeway sitting by itself.
then tueday it was still sitting there.
so called dl to report it and he said if i have time to get trailer number.
i didnt. i googled how to get there.
so yesterday it was still there so i went there.
    took pics.
    trailer empty.
    left landing gear bent foward.
landing gear was all the way up.
some driver put a 50 gallon barrel with 4x4 on top and placed under kingpin. dropped it and barrel was crushed about half way.
one of tires on left side was flat and others had flat spots.
didnt check rite side due to high weeds.
called dl and said will need a wrecker to take it

A few years ago some of the larger accounts decided to game the system. They wrote into the contract that an early deliver is a service failure and charge a penalty if you show up early.

You can show up early and the worker bees may take you. But, when the bean counters get the bill they call it a service failure and charge the penalty. Then you get a call from.your DM 2 months after you deliverd informing you that you have service failure.

So what is the drawback of a service failure these days?
Used to be, a couple service failures would nix the bonus. But those are no longer factored into the new bonus system.

I guess too many might get you fired, but how many is too many?

With dairy if they have it, you'll get it. Or if delivering, if there's room they take it. I've never gotten any bad feedback.
