I usually run with recap hours, but this time I'm doing it differently.
I'm taking a 34 to get my full hours back to see if I get better loads.
And sometimes I'll do a 34 just get a few more hours to rest.
The constant go... go... go wears on me.

That's funny, we left Santa Rosa NM at 0400 Central time and got to LHC at 1700 Central time. Yes we did a 10 hour break there. Only had half an hour left on the clock at that point.
The heat was no bother, fired up the generator and ran the air conditioner, kept the interior a chilly 67 degrees- that is til about 6 hours later it ran out of gasoline and the truck turned into an oven within 60 seconds. Got it running again but couldn't get back to sleep.
2 stopper, delivery in the morning over int he Oakland CA area, but detoured up here to Stockton CA for the break to see my son if even for a few minutes. -
How about the Swift shop techs who are supposed to be properly inspecting those trailers every 6 months?
-
I was in Denver a couple weeks back and the only trailers that seemed to be available were in shop status, because the people there were doing their job.
I ended up taking a local delivery to get a decent mt for my next load.
Go into Phoenix and the trailers are inspected as you go in, as in some other terminals.
And all of us drivers complain about the process, even as we complain about getting junk trailers that were not repaired or inspected as they should have been.
We all expect to get a perfect mt when we unload, but not all of us are willing to 'waste' our time to get something fixed.
Don't blame the shop tech's, when drivers are more at fault!scottied67 Thanks this. -
You're reading too much into it ... That was directed at drivers who a) freak out and feel they need a reset any time they get below 10 hours on their 70 and b) the drivers that will take a reset every 7 days regardless of their hours ... ergo the instruction how to check and use your recap and if in doubt call your DM. Hopefully the DM will know how the recap works.
Moose ... I'll be in Pueblo Tuesday. Have a live that night. -
wish they would get rid of the 70 hr rule.
-
I understand the reasoning behind the 70 hour rule.
The 168 hour rule regarding resets, however, is plain stupid. "Nope, can't take today off, even though I'm exhausted. Have to drive today, but I can take tomorrow off."
The Law of Unintended Consequences is alive and well. -
get rid of the 70 hr rule, then you wont need the 34 reset. i think the 11,14, and 10 hr break is good enough. if i want to work everyday, then that should be my choice, not on how many hrs thats left on 70.

auburn wa. delivered that load to safeway with really no issues than they used all of their 2 hr alottment lol. took the mt trailer back to sumner terminal to get that pull arm fixed. grabbed another mt and have a load here in auburn that delivers in lebanon or today b4 1600

I'd like to get rid of the 14 hour clock, just say you can drive up to 11 hours in a 24 hr period then you have to have 10 consecutive in sleeper to reset it. 14 hour clock pisses me off, i call it the devil clock.
Lady K Thanks this.
