Yeah, I do have a torch.

I also have a hacksaw. Haven't had to use it yet, but have it just in case...

 

Wow.
I have trouble enough just keeping personal effects in the truck, with a few tools for minor stuff.

I guess I like too much to stay 'lean' on stuff taking up room.

But a torch, with the tanks...


All these things that take up so much room, just to save a couple hours of time.
And the expense, personally, that goes along with it.

I guess it is why I don't lease or own a truck.
I am just too lazy, and like my space and time too much.

 

I've met a couple Swift drivers that don't carry any tools whatsoever. I really don't get that.

 

We need tools for the odds and ends.

You don't need a torch with tanks. Not the one you're thinking of. It's just a small portable propane tank. Usually blue. Maybe a foot long and a couple inches wide. And there is a torch tip that applies right on the tank. No hoses needed. All you do is crank the propane on with the knob attached to the torch tip. Then use a lighter to get the flame going. You can get the set for around 20. Replacement tanks are around 8 bucks.

One Thing I found out is that the tanks can freeze. So I've yet to use mine. Have used my hammer tho.

 

Get a Schrader valve tool as well . Pulling a leaking "plug" with 100 and some pounds of pressure behind it can get sporty in a hurry .

 

If he was truly old school he would have cracked a beer and taken an overflow mouthful just as he lit it off to put out any fire left after the bead up explosion . Ah yes , the good old days .

 

Then again, repairs are not so easy when it is -3 degrees, with a wind chill of -30.

Everything seems to get a bit stiff.

 

Not everything, some things just down right disappear!
