I quit Swift twice. First time as a company driver, just cleaned up the truck and put they keys on my DM's desk after hours. 4 weeks later I came back and leased a truck. 3 years after that I quit again this time with a qualcomm message--"Request Terminate Contract ASAP"-- and get offer to come back with significant sign on bonus.
The best thing I could advise is just to return the truck to whatever terminal and walk the keys in and have someone come out and sign off on the condition of the equipment. I didn't do that with the company truck -- I just didn't think of it and/or didn't know to protect myself but they never said anything or accused me of turning in damaged equipment or anything.

At the South Dallas TA.
I forgot I had to pay to park at this place, but I was out of hours when I got here.
I am also out of cash, so I used some points to buy a couple CD's to pay for the night.
I'm also using points to eat during the day, whenever I can.
Too many people needing my 'extra' money, and I end up short.
I deliver a load in Palestine, TX tomorrow and then pick up a load about 75 miles away bound for Ottawa, KS the next day.
I was heavy on adjusting times, both with the current and the next load.
A mac-22 to delay my current delivery so I would not have to sit for several hours to pick up the next one, and an adjustment via mac-9 for the delivery of the next load.
It's rather like playing chess, and I'll get a bit more sleep tomorrow morning as a result.
I'm running on recap hours, but I'd really like to work in a 34 somewhere to get my full hours back.
I would really like a GOOD week to get me back on top, money wise.
Right now I'm getting back 6 to 9 hours each day, and the planners plan it that way. Short loads, and too much time between them.
I seem to be in a rut, and I need to get out of it.Rattlebunny Thanks this. -
Geeze Mystic, give me a bit more credit than that. I fuel based upon several criteria, money is merely one if several. I'm also not one to sample anyone's koolaid. I didn't go off the deep end with anyone. I asked to speak to someone in the fuel dept and got a voice mail box and no response since.
Its obvious that you didn't read my post because I said I don't care about the discount thing. Also, my card wasn't turned off at all Pilot / FJ's. Just that one. And I could care less about refer fuel, they can deny that without turning off regular fuel. Please, don't make assumptions about me, you have no idea who you may be dealing with. -

At the SB rest area in Davis, OK. Had to jump through hoops and wait for a lumper advance to drop at the Paul's Valley Walmart DC last night. Got hit by an amazing squall line of thunderstorms right after getting back on 35 south with my empty, heavy rain, wind and smallish hail were conspiring to put us in the ditch. We crept here at about 30 mph and parked it. Storms raged for most of the night. They let up around 0200 only to start again around 0615. We're waiting it out for now before heading to a truck stop in Ardmore for a 34.
If you're in the Oklahoma / North Texas area keep a good watch on the weather. It could save your life. -
Amarillo Pilot. Taking a 30 and headed to OKC to t-call this load and get my trainee into a hotel for my "home time". Turning in the truck tomorrow to start my new job.
Yesterday afternoon I had the wheel from Limon to Lamar Colorado. Skirted around two supercells that dropped tornadoes is Limon and Kit Carson. Some strong winds. Glad we are heavy. -
Just wondering what happens to the student? I mean does he know your not coming back? Do you and swift have an arrangement to have another trainer come pick him up?
-
My trainee knows. Tomorrow morning we'll meet up so we can log off the truck, make arrangements for his next trainer, and so I can turn in the truck properly.

Here at the Road Ranger in Princeton, IL. Had this feeling that when I got up here I was going to get the shaft in this planning area. First was sent a pplan yesterday, DH 100 miles to pick up a live load tonight at 2100 and deliver back to Columbus, Crown Cork at 2100 tomorrow night. All of 300 miles. Declined that one. Then MAC 30 was just has bad. All long DH and short loads. One was Cheyenne and not back over there. Saw one MAC 30 that had 3 loads going from Bettendorf to Golden. Then again saw it again this morning and called in to find out what it was and pallets to Miller. Decided to take one of them before the planners decided to shaft again. Also my DM told me now a problem getting out of here and keep rolling for the weekend. That did not happen. Left the house and all of 410 miles for 2 days. Hate the Jonestown planners getting out of the house. Now just try and drop this one early on Tuesday so can try and get me a shorty to try and salvage this week some or will end up with all of 1300 miles for the week.
-
Then you were right to turn down the load.
That said I've had to repeatedly tell my DM not to automatically assume that I won't take a load just because it has some DH built in. I ASKED to DH from Sparks back to Lathrop so I could get a load.
