Terminal in Edwardsville. What a long 360 miles today with strong winds out of the SSE gusting up to 20mph. Pulling all these hills from Colby to here with this 42,500 in the box. I whopping 6.1mpg. Now I have from today until Wednesday morning to get to Tolleson with a stop in McPhearson tomorrow to pick up a trailer. Kinda on the way from here. Hope that the winds stop. I just hate US-54 when windy. Usually always winds for me coming out of the SW when I am going across with a light load. Think that then will stay the night in Goodyear Wednesday.

The TA in Greencastle, PA.
Aside from the usual weekend traffic at the NJ/PA border it's been a very nice day.
A short day, with only 5 hours to work with. I shut down with 14 minutes left on my 70.
We were finally able to get that long overdue shower. That was nice.
Tomorrow we deliver in Charlotte, NC at around 1400. No pplan yet, but I'm hoping for something a bit further south and west of there.
Leann has been to 31 states so far, and we're hoping to get a few more in before she gets off the truck next week.
I've gotten used to her being with me. It'll be a bit lonely here when she's gone.
She is a lot of fun.
Next year my youngest, Lorelei, will be with me. She has been looking forward to getting on the truck for many years.scottied67, fr8monkey and HousTank Thank this. -
Would you recommend starting with dry or reefer with Swift?
Plan to do flatbed but recruiter said to start out with the two mentioned. -
Hanging out at the Petro in Monee, IL after dropping my load a little while ago.
Mac30's been mty for the past 27 hrs so I checked Mac34 for the destination planning area and oddly it showed Memphis. Seems every other time I've gotten pplns in this area just south of I-80 and Chicago, they came out of Manteno.
So anyway, I call Memphis to try to get hooked up after my 10 is over. System put me on hold then a planner finally answers and I give my truck number and then get told "Sorry, can't help you this is a Jonestown planner and you need Memphis". Huh!?! He said the phone rolls over to them if no one answers in Memphis. I asked why he couldn't just look at loads for this area that the system says I can handle?? He gives me some BS answer that didn't make sense and sounded more like he didn't want to be bothered. I figure if my DM can do it wherever I'm at then why can't you?? I mean, what is the point of the phone call rolling over to a different region that refuses to help!?!
So he tells me to call Memphis again..I do and get the same results. Screw this, more Swift games. Seems like weekend planners are just as worthless as weekend ECT. -
Monee Petro is one of my favorite stops. Big fat all you can eat spaghetti and miles of nice flat sidewalks set back between grass lawns along the neighborhood streets out back which I used to walk Abby. Checked the phone pedometer one day, we had walked 18 miles.
Abby has been home for a couple months, so I have no excuse to get out and walk, just drive, eat, sleep repeat. Went for a short walk yesterday and my hips are killing me today. Anyway, carry on : - )HousTank Thanks this. -
Today I had to call my terminal in IGH and it rolled over to Memphis. Found a mt trailer here and went in to get it hooked to me and the guy at the t-call window said that could not because it showed in KC and he could not move it so called my terminal and that is when Memphis could not move it because it was red flagged. Went back in a little later and was talking to the person at the t-call window and a dm walks up and was listening to our conversation and he pulls up the trailer, moves it, asks my truck, puts it on me and dispatched. What a crock
HousTank Thanks this. -
As we are aware Swift office staff is full of lazy incompotent people who can't/won't do their job.
IGH, what happened to your move to ELP? -
Still at the Monee Petro.
Planners up to the same ole same ole. Been checking Mac30 for almost 2 days and it's been mty. Tried repeatedly to call Memphis planners for a load but always end up with Jonestown (who refuse to help) because Memphis doesn't answer the phone.
A little while ago a Memphis planner sends me a HEAVY preload, with a trailer number, that is already late to P/U and would require me to drive 4hrs mty then run without stopping all night, squeeze in a 10 and then still be short of arriving on time for a live unload (groceries). WTF!!! Removed with a reasonable counter offer in a Mac9.
This load wasn't booked 10 mins ago and I'm sure they knew of it yesterday. Why can't these people either put it in Mac30 or offer it with enough time to be rested up and ready to go where you're not driving like some kind of maniac to get there!!!
I'm really tired of this crap. I moved my PTA to keep them from wasting their time trying to run me all night when I've been up all day..spending most of it trying to get a load. It's so late now I don't care anymore because whatever they toss out now will expect me drive all night. Will see what comes up later after I'm rested for another go at it.
Reaffirms my decision to move on from Swift soon. It's in the works. Swift is doing their darnedest to transform me into a disgruntled employee when I've been fairly happy over 4 years.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Still in Lancaster, no energy, everything aches. have to call the psych then rapid response tomorrow before I get so far behind I can't get caught up.
